Child swimming lessons
- Rachel (22nd Feb 2015 - 20:21:34)

Can anyone recommend a venue for swimming lessons for my 2 and 4 year old? 4 year old needs improver lessons as can swim but 2 year old is still learning. Heard mixtures of opinions on local venues and would appreciate some honest opinion and recommendations. Thank you.

All the various venues use lots and lots of different teachers. Some teachers are excellent, some good, some bad.

My son is a swimming teacher and often he does a fill-in session to cover sickness etc and finds the kids either know next to nothing, or simply refuse to do things and get away with it.

It doesn't really matter which venue but if you want to ensure you get someone you like - then you can go and watch the different teachers interacting with the children.

I have heard rumours recently that in some pools, teachers will not be able to go in the water with the children but have to stand at the side. This hasn't been implemented yet - but worth asking about when talking to the various leisure centres.

Also, bear in mind that there can be quite long waiting lists so check out less obvious pools like the garrison pool in Bordon. If classes are full, most teachers will offer private lessons which don't cost that much more.
