Property devalued
- Lily (22nd Feb 2015 - 00:35:15)

Hello, fellow liphookers!
It occurred to me that, while we all contribute and moan and groan about rude shop staff, gypsies everywhere, anti social young men and women etc etc etc. Our house prices will plummet! Who will want to buy a house in such a ghetto as how we portray it?!? Potential buyers are not only looking for decent schools and transport links. All this negativity will put buyers off! Let's embrace our village and for pockets sake keep a good old british stiff upper lip! Happy Sunday all.

I don't think reading this Forum is going to devalue properties as it is becoming common knowledge how Liphook is changing and not for the better. Important point, when buying a house if a purchaser finds subsequently something that is detrimental apertaining to the purchase and can prove that the Estate Agent and or the owner had prior knowledge, they can sue them for withholding the information.

Lily,

I don't think you need to worry about your property devaluing. According to Zoopla property prices in Liphook have gone up 10% over the last year and the projection for Hampshire more generally is something like 30-40% over the next 5 years. Even if proposed developments do go ahead and the village expands, new properties will be priced at the top end of the market and generally over time, will pull prices of properties in surrounding areas up as well.

I remember an article in a national newspaper two or three years back listing Liphook as one of the top 10 best places to invest in property in the UK. Reasons being the Hindhead tunnel & good train links to London, outstanding schools and beautiful countryside on your doorstep. Every town/village has its problems and Liphook is no different in that sense, but people shouldn't forget that Liphook has a lot going for it as well.

I think Lily was being tongue in cheek in her posting, trying to get a reaction from people. I may be wrong, but she is probably trying to deride people who would post on here about property prices. Also, it is only serious neighbour desputes which have to be declared on a property conveyance form. An estate agent can only be sued for serious mis - description of a property, it is the buyer's solicitor who has to do searches and point out any negatives about an area, rude staff at the co op would not qualify!

Don’t sweat Lily, only 1 person Ann (18th Feb 2015 14:49:04) commented on the SAM, SAAMMMMM, SAAAAAMMMMMMMMMMM ! Post, either she was showing off (not likely) or she like very many on that post also ate the same micro chips from the very same microwave as Sam & Ash and had the aim of defending Sam & Ash online. This is the only post in a month that could be regarded as negative to prices.

All the normal Liphook people have seen through the post by Sam & Ash's mates/family/social equivalents. The only alternatives given were;

1. Get a hobby
2. Stop using talkback/gossiping
3. Ohhh don’t say anything about the children!!

All of which are arguments of the small mind !

Talkback will have ZERO influence on property prices, every village has its own Sam and Ash, and Talkback should be thanked for exposing it, perhaps your one of Sam & Ashs mates/family/social equivalents? And perhaps you have a little more intelligence by attempting to strike fear into us through property prices? Either way it’s still nonsense and we won’t be having it, if something is wrong we WILL speak about, don’t attempt to curtail our freedom of expression again please, and don’t get sucked into the nonsense of an idiot.

Helen,
Right you are! Only a little fun. I would just like everyone to appreciate that we are lucky to live in such a fab village. The cons don't outweigh the pros. That makes me happy.
