Didn't last long
- Robert Douglas (29th Sep 2009 - 13:17:43)

The recently resurfaced Headley Road has not one but two teams digging holes in it this morning - a team dealing with a gas problem near the Co-op and a team dealing with a water main near the Square. It was always too good to be true ...

Sorry. "Dealing with ..." the gas problem was a vast exaggeration. They've now been here two days and, apart from digging a hole, seem to have done nothing except sit in the back of their van and smoke cigarettes - yes, smoke cigarettes!! Hmmm.

A joke's a joke but this is becoming a pantomime!

Headley Road was a nightmare when I went on holiday two weeks ago. I get back yesterday and they are still in the same holes with three light traffic controls causing chaos!

How long does it take to find a gas leak and fix it?

Well if all they're doing is sitting around smoking, I'm surprised they haven't found the gas leak!!! Perhaps they're using my E-cigarettes??

Whatever....it's causing a great nuisance for all of us who live near to the problem on the Headley Road :(

Agreed,
No one minds genuine attempts to fix a problem, but when all you see is traffic lights - but no workmen - you wonder what on earth they are actually doing!!!

Re: Didn't last long

Most impressive. As soon as Dawn Hoskins took an interest, they upped sticks and left. Now all we have to show for their efforts is a series of road bumps.

Is one of the road humps Dawn Hoskins?

Oh yes, sorry, I got a bit tired after queuing in the post office, so thought I’d lay down to have a nap.

I wondered what all the noise was!!

I haven't been out in the car today - have they gone then?

Re: Didn't last long

LOL Dawn!!

Yes they've gone....probably on their way to Wrecksham Hill, apparently that's going to be closed next week. Mr Nelson is furious and is trying to find another way to get to work in Camberley, without having to go through Hindhead....nightmare!!

2 options; either through Alton and up the A31 or turn via Passfield, Headley, Churt and onto Farnham. None of ways are going to easy....

Sorry....I thought I'd better correct my last post in case I confuse anyone...Wrecksham Hill will be shut from Monday week (26th) and not next Monday.

[Editor - and we all assume you mean Wrecclesham]

Well I have planned a few routes, and I suppose it depends on how many others use the same way as to its effectiveness.

Your husband can still go to wrecclesham, but as you approach turn RIGHT(at top of hill) into Echo Barn Lane. That takes you to traffic lights, turn Left, then just past the railway bridge (Opposite Garage) turn right into the rear of the station and continue towards the main traffic lights on the A31 at Farnham. Or from Echo Barn lane go straight across the lights, at the end of that road turn left onto the Tilford road, which takes you towards the station and the traffic lights on the A31.

I am going to try turning off the A325 (bordon road) at the Blackness junction just past Country Market - and go towards Bentley, then up the A31 to Farnahm. There is unfortunately road works, but I think they have now moved further down the A31. For me I will also try going further along the A325 and turn off just before Forest Lodge this is quite a narrow road, but it comes out much nearer to Farnham on the A31. My destination is the Coxbridge Business prk its not too much out of my way.

Thanks for your helpful post Sue.....I'll pass on your suggestions to Mr Nelson :)

Eneida

Not sure if your husband knows this (I only found out today) the road between the mini roundabout at wrecclesham and coxbridge roundabout is only closed off peak, from 9.30 to (I think) 4.00. It is on the boards, but very small and low down. Passing traffic would have found it hard to see.

Regards

Sue
