Railway station parking
- MJB (12th Feb 2015 - 10:03:52)

Concerning the comments about commuters driving from Bordon to use Liphook station i wonder where are they going to park? the carpark is full most days.Perhaps a multistorey carpark needs to be built on the empty industrial estate near Countrywide Stores?

Here here! Parking throughout Liphook is in such short supply and there is nowhere to park for anyone wanting to day out by train when the station car park is full. Most areas have a 5 hour limit and the side roads everywhere are full of commuter parking who also can't find enough space in the station car park. We are already grid locked with traffic so where will residents of the proposed new housing park?! Our infrastructure needs huge improvement I.e. roads, sewage, doctors, schools etc very urgently. We all need to bombard Hampshire County Council with our concerns.

I guess I'm the obligatory poster who disagrees with the OP. Every time I have been to Liphook Station to park to get the train I have always been able to find a space in the station car park. This has ranged from 8am mid week to after 10am on a Friday.

What you probably find is that those people parking on the side streets don't want to pay the (in my opinion) very reasonable car parking charges (which are significantly cheaper than Haslemere).

I'm a Liphook resident, I could probably walk to the station but choose not to because I don't want to walk home alone late at night.

I do agree with the comments but I would just add the car park is never full ... While I commute everyday I walk 20 minutes to the station .A lot of people who park or abandon their cars near the station ( starting at 6am) don't really give much thought to others , while its all fair game and no law against it's a very hard problem to solve .

I have witnessed over the last few years the car park at the station is being used a lot more, due to the removal of yellow lines on the Portsmouth Road and various other issues such as the new houses near Sainsnburys (grrr...). It will get to a point where the car park is completely full and then we will certainly have an issue. Must also say I have seen the car parking prices increase significantly and consider the amount we spend on the train every year - why would we want to pay for parking when we pay SO much?? And to those who complain about commuters parking.... two sides people! Two sides!!!
