Visiting or Local Chiropodist?
- Jay W (5th Feb 2015 - 18:46:11)
Until this month my parents were receiving visits from a chiropodist subsidised (I believe by Age Concern) but due to cut backs home visits have stopped and they would have to travel to Alton (difficult without transport of their own) plus they can no longer treat my mother who is on warfarin (although stable).
We could probably get them to a more local venue on days off and were told by Social Services there was chiropody service at Petersfield Hospital but we can't find the details. Understand that chiropody in chemist in village is substantially more expensive.
Does anyone have any information/ideas please?

Hi - Most Chiropodists are now known as Podiatrists. I believe that their skills are far wider now than just Chiropody. This may help in your search.
A Podiatrist does work out of Petersfield Hospital on Friday I believe. Try telephoning Petersfield Hospital main reception on 01730 263221 as they book the appointments for the Podiatrists.
I do think they are private though.
Hope this helps.

Podiatry and chiropody available at Petersfield Community hospital by appointment as a private NHS patient. Called Tip Toe, they offer a pretty comprehensive range of treatments from £10. I believe that a fuller consultation is £23. Since most chiropodists charge £25 for a session, that isn't bad. Have not tried them yet myself, but intend to.

Thanks for the info - just rang Petersfield Hospital.
Fees are £25 for initial assessment, £10 for your own nail kit then £13 a time for nail trimming or more for additional services.
Quite booked up though for 2 appointments together!

Ask her GP to refer her to the hospital podiatrist. I've had similar problems with my aged parents.

Meant to say I am hopeful they will still get home visits.
