portsmouth road
- ian (29th Jan 2015 - 21:47:39)

I've heard the Portsmouth road is not likely to be open until late march, does anybody know any different?

See notice on the front of the Parish Council website saying
"Hampshire County Council has issued a temporary road closure order for the B2070 Portsmouth Road for a period of 12 months from 12th January 2015 or until completion of the works whichever is sooner."

www.bramshottandliphook-pc.gov.uk

That is a 'blanket' order and does not define when the road will re-open - hopefully much earlier.

Well they have put traffic lights up and one lane appears to be open so I would say it will be open pretty soon.

To be honest I wished they kept the road closed as they did, it now takes the same amount of time to get to the Petersfield end of Portsmouth Road and visitors are no longer able to park outside of my house which is ridiculous!

I was enjoying the road closure as well, easy access from my drive,.
The lack of parking for residents and visitors is a shame, but it's nice not having commuters dumping their cars their all day from the crack of dawn till late.
A couple of reminders for drivers now using the re opened road is that the speed limit hasn't changed its still 30, and when I learned to drive, I know it was a while back but a red traffic light means stop, not race through at top speed .

It's going to be lovely not having to go around the village to get to the doctors or braving the field with a pushchair!
I haven't missed idiots speeding down the road though

I went down the Portsmouth Rd on Sunday.

There are traffic lights now outside the damaged house but it is now passable.
