Haslemere Road Closure?
- Richard Robertson (2nd Aug 2009 - 16:28:26)
According to signs in Liphook down by the railway bridge towards Haslemere and in the Square by the Anchor Garage the whole stretch of the road encompassed by these two points will be closed for two days from 17 August.
Which leads to the obvious question: How will the many hundreds of people affected go about their business.
As anyone who has seen the signs will be aware there is no contact number for information so whoever is doing the work obviously does not want to have the hassle of many irate villagers on the phone to them.
Any information appreciated.

I have also noticed the signs. I live on the Haslemere Road, we have not been notified by anyone about what is going on.

You might find some useful information on this website www.elgin.gov.uk. It lists all the road works within certain areas including those planned for Liphook.
[editor - but unfortunately makes no mention of the road closures discussed]

Update from the Parish ..
"The Parish Council Office does not seem to have been told about this. However the Office has been making enquiries since the notices went up.
Apparently it will be a full closure.
The County Officer who knows about this is away but will get back to us later in the week with more detailed information. "

Haslemere Road, Liphook – Carriageway Resurfacing
You may be aware of the advance warning signs that have been erected for the closure of Haslemere Road week commencing Monday 17th August 2009.
On Thursday 20th and Friday 21st August, Hampshire County Council will be carrying out essential carriageway resurfacing works at the above location, between the junction with Devils Lane through to the County boundary, just south of the railway bridge .
The works are expected to last for approximately 2 days during which time the road will be closed to through traffic between 9:30am to 4.00pm. We will endeavour to have the road open by 4.00pm on each day, due to unforeseen circumstances this time may need to be extended for a short period.
During this time every effort will be made by our Contractors to allow vehicular access to and from your property, however there may be times when a delay is unavoidable and we would like to take this opportunity to apologise in advance should any inconvenience be caused.
I would like to thank you for your cooperation in this matter and should you have any queries regarding these works please call our contact centre on 0845 6035633.
Yours faithfully,
Richard Peach
Highway Engineer (Consultant)
