Gas boiler service/repair - Jay W (3rd Jan 2015 - 13:35:46) Need to find recommended Gas Safe engineer to service and possibly repair (thermo coupler) my parents' gas boiler which stopped working on 31st. I must have phoned at least 20 people that day but those who answered were all on holiday until 5th or longer and then booked up anyway - even the dreaded British Gas who run several ads stressing their 24/7 availability were unable to help. So any recommendations? Really need heating back on as soon as possible - it's ok when you are young and able to move around but not for the elderly less mobile. Thanks.

Just to update you, my parents booked an appointment for gas engineer to call today (he was first one they were able to speak to directly). He arrived this morning, took the front off the boiler, said there was nothing he could do, nothing any other engineer could do, they needed a new boiler - he would prepare a quote. The upheaval factor (and delay in getting heating and hot water back on) was very upsetting for my parents so we rang Alex Dewey for a second opinion. We are so lucky he was able to come out within the hour, was happy to spend 2 hours giving the boiler a thorough overhaul and clean and it is now working! What an absolute star - can't recommend him highly enough. Thanks Alex for putting the smiles back on my parents' faces.
