Depends on a lot of things but there will definitely be more commuter traffic especially if the old rail link and Bordon Station is not re-opened. See the BAAG website for a list of bad things about it and the EHDC site and WHITEHILLBORDON.COM for a list of good things. There have been other posts on Liphook.co.uk about it but the main issue centres around why build 5500 houses when the area only needs 2200 at worst to harmonise the town? It is has become a convenient dumping ground for the perceived housing shortage.
Am I alone in believing that this development will never happen?
Even the government seems to be at odds in insisting that the emission levels from eco towns is less than that of standard housing developments elsewhere.
As for the rail link, well at present the plans seem to indicate a link up with Bentley! BENTLEY?. . . .pass me the atlas!
Living on the Headley Road I am obviously very concerned about any increase in traffic up through the village to those wishing to get to the A3 especially at peak commuter times when I believe it would be difficult to shoe horn any more traffic on this road.

The original discussion on this website took place in June/july 2008. Worth referring to with the benefit of hindsight. Personally, I do not think it merits any concern what-so-ever because the financial means does not exist to make it happen at this time (nor did it then but we were all asked to believe otherwise by a government which had almost bankrupted the nation by then)

I'm generally in agreement with you, Allan. But only last week the government committed an extra £3.5m to the Bicester scheme.
