swimming
- Jo (3rd Dec 2014 - 14:04:06)
I am looking for my 12 and 14 year old somewhere for them to swim. They don't really want lessons, I don't mind. It would be good if they could do lane swimming with someone overseeing and telling them how many to do etc. Does anyone have any ideas please?

My kids used to swim at The Herons in Haslemere. Check their website and they should have a timetable for lane swimming and age groups.

If you want someone to oversee their lane swimming, that's a lesson, so you'd have to book. If it's just them lane swimming, then Mill Chase Leisure Centre at Bordon has lane swimming on different days/nights/times of the week. Check the website for details:

There are private health clubs with pools, of course, but there are many others, like the Army Garrison Pool that is open to the public in Bordon.
Check this map for lists of all swimming pools in the area, with contact lists.

Thanks for the information. The Herons is closed until at least the middle of December, could be longer.

Hello,
I'm a very keen swimmer so here's my views on the local swimming pools I've tried:
Herons (Haslemere) - 8 lane swimming pool so when open again, hopefully mid Dec this is a good venue for lane swimming usually there is between 3 - 5 lanes available.
Mill Chase (Bordon) - Only a 4 lane swimming pool, from experience usually only 2 lanes available at best, have found pool to be quiet though.
Taro (Petersfield) - Again 4 lanes usually only 2 available and can be busier than Mill Chase.
Godalming - Bit further away but is a 6 lane pool, only been there a few times, is a new pool and often between 2 - 4 lanes. Sometimes the lanes are double sized.
Surrey Sports Park (Guildford) - Great venue, new pool and is a 50 metre pool though usually it is split into 2 x 25m. 8 lane pool and can be anything from 2 - 8 lanes depending on session, teaching etc. Is great when the pool is 50m, usually at weekends, early mornings and a couple of times in the evenings.
