Sponsorship for future star
- Sarah Grantham (2nd Dec 2014 - 20:23:10)

We are looking for a local business/company who would be interested in financially sponsoring my 7 year old daughter who is the future of British Tennis. She has already been signed by Head on a equipment contract and has been on two radio stations, but we are looking for someone to help her continue to train. You can view her progress on her latest training video, her radio interviews and also read her weekly blog on her coaches website www.waughmantennis.com. If you would be interested in sponsoring her please message us through the contacts page on her coaches website. Many thanks and I hope someone can help.

I wish you luck in your endeavour, but I'm wondering what a sponsor gets in return? (unless they are simply altruistic, but in the current economic climate such sponsors are incredibly hard to find).

Given that your daughter cannot compete in LTA competitions until she is 11 (so four years away), is a potential sponsor being asked to invest for four years for in effect little return (ok a little exposure on local media, but the same sponsor could obtain better exposure in that media over the same period by sponsoring a local football or cricket team)

Sorry if this appears cruel, it's not intended to be, but having spent years raising sponsorship for various local athletes/sports teams/charity events, the world of sponsorship is a very hard world, and most sponsors have little interest in sporting prowess, their emphasis is simply on 'bang per buck' - i.e. what return do they get on their sponsorship.
