Orange Fiat in Anchor car park
- Tori (5th Nov 2014 - 13:27:54)

There is an abandoned fiat in our car park at the Royal Anchor. We've tried to locate an owner for months now so we're assuming it no longer has one. If anyone wants to take it for scrap etc please do.

I would strongly suggest that you get proper authorisation before removing the vehicle - as it could be construed as theft.

You can request owner details from DVLA (small charge) or maybe the police would help to identify them ?

Hi,
I could remove free of charge if you get the appropriate authorisation.

I contacted the police about the car in June as we do with any car that has been there an exessive amount of time and they have been unable to trace an owner. However if anyone is interested and would like to check for themselves the license plate is Y609 FSC.

You can report an abandoned vehicle on the gov.uk website, that way, you are not asking anyone to take it away without the permission of the owner. However, I'm not sure how you stand as its a private car park

Contact environmental services at EHDC. If you can prove the vehicle has been abandoned, they will remove the vehicle even if it is on private land.

They will put a notice on it giving the owner 15 days to recover the vehicle and then once at least 15 days have elapsed they will remove it.

If it is not taxed they will crush it - if it is taxed they will store it and crush it once the tax expires. They do charge but will send a bill for the charge to the registered owner of the vehicle.

I'm not sure what they do if there is no registered owner, presumably they may then send the bill to you, but you would need to ask them about this

Tow it onto the road side.
Once off private property it will be dealt with by the authorities. All the time it is in your private car park it is your problem.

Alternatively, tell the parish council know local children are using it for educational purposes as there are not enough nursery spaces and they will close it down and tow it away by Christmas for free whether reasonable or not!
