Safe dog walking places in Liphook
- Jane (13th Oct 2014 14:31:38)
I am hoping to look after a dog from Hounds For Heros charity at weekends. This dog walking is new to me. Can you suggest some safe areas to take a 6mth Labrador in or near liphook?
Many thanks
Jane

Hi there depending on where you live, down the Longmoor road up the driveway to Old thorns is a public walking area weavers down, no cars around, and the other side of the village Nr Hewshott/bramshott is the MOD land formerly where the Canadian ARmy camps were. Again free of traffic. The carpark at Bramshott Common can be driven to from the A3 although it is not signposted Depending on where you live there are plenty of safe areas away from traffic.

If you drive out of Liphook towards Petersfield, just past the Black Fox, there is Chapel common. It is all fenced as they do put cattle in there so your dog can not get out. It is a glorious walk with plenty of varied scenery, and you can spend a good hour and a half wandering around there. Or there is Lynchmere Common on the Haslemere road.,again fenced off, but my favourite is Chapel common by far.
Please pick up dog poo though.

What a great cause to be supporting! I remember reading about Endal !!
Lots of great areas lovely areas which ever way you go. Ontario on rectory rd Bramshott is good with lots of sensible dog owners. The common by the cricket club is so pretty and the common by the deers hut is great if you want to be out for a good long walk.
I am sure you will gets lots of support from HFH but keep him/her on an extending lead until you know they have recall.
The Links is really dog friendly pub so if you want a walk with a coffee/wine/beer stop head that way!!
A six month old lab ...your in for some fun :)

I walk my Labrador twice a day every day in the Liphook area and I agee with the previous post that Chapel Common is by far the safest place for both your dog and a lone female dog walker, you only meet other friendly dog walkers, it\'s fenced and the cows are harmless!
I also walk on Iron Hill which is on the Midhurst Rd, Lynchmere Common, Weavers Down, Bramshott Common and further afield Blackdown, Polecat Valley, The Punch bowl and Ludshott Common, all of which are \'google-able\' pecan be found on an OS map!!
Happy dog walking!!! I love it!!!

Hi tony
I choose my dog walking places carefully - places that I feel safe and also that my dog will be safe. For instance, you wouldn't want to be walking a dog where there is often broken glass or needles and yes, there are such places in Liphook. I also prefer not to walk in dark places or heavily wooded areas when I am on my own - but that is my personal choice. Everyone should be mindful of their surroundings and possible dangers - even in Liphook.
There is nice walk out to Conford through the park (bridleway on the left on the bend just past Dryden Way at the bottom of Hill House Hill as you head out of Liphook). Being a pebble/stone path it doesn't get too muddy. Can combine with a wander around Conford out to the ranges or go first via Bramshott Vale (past the Highland cattle) and out across the fields.
