Logs - where to buy
- Di (23rd Sep 2014 - 08:59:11)

Hello

We have just had a wood burner installed and also new to the area. Can anyone recommend the best place to stock up on logs for the winter?

Many thanks

I have not bought seasoned logs as we have enough from fallen trees from last year, but...

I can highly recommend you buy one of these if you haven't already....

www.amazon.co.uk/.....

The trick is to make sure the wood is as dry as possible before burning. This gives more heat and a cleaner burn. Anything below 20% is considered "OK". Chop or cut the log and test in the middle. Very well seasoned wood will be 10-15%. You can check the logs to see how well seasoned they are.

Much more heat is produce from drier logs as the energy is not used to drive the water out as steam.

I would consider buying some Stovax Protector Flue & Chimney Cleaner or similar, as this reduces and removes soot and deposit build up in the stove and flue.

Wylds Farm in Liss Forest. 01730 891490 or 07747 603418 (leave a message & he will get back to you).
They deliver a trailer full to your house. Great quality log.

I would recommend Liphook Logs. Bought a few loads from them now and they\\\'re very good and very quick.
