Liphook Village Surgery
- Dee (11th Sep 2014 - 08:54:04)

Well

Have just phoned the Liphook Village Surgery for an appointment for today you have to ring after 8.30am. To be told there are NO appointments for today, they have staff training this afternoon. So being as I thought grown up (stupid me), asked for one for tomorrow to be told ring up in the morning (just hope to get one then). If they person I was ringing up for is no better then it is a trip to A & E which I really did not want to do.

They should have emergency appointments, call back and ask and say it's urgent you're seen today
Call 111 if no luck and go about it that way..

it is a nightmare trying to get a doctor's appointment, you sit by the phone from 8.15 pm, and it's engaged, and engaged and engaged, for ages, when you finally get through you are then assessed by the receptionist, and very often told a doctor will phone you, so that's often another couple of hours waiting for a doctor to phone, it really is a nightmare. We get told that the ambulance service is used for trivial things, but when people are worried, or perhap's live alone it is often the only way they can get some help.

Whilst I've never had a problem with the surgery or the doctors, I find it very frustrating that there appears to be no notification that they will be shut.

I turned up to pick up a prescription, to find they are closed. No note on the door, nothing. Had I known I'd have tried to get it this morning before work, as I have run out of what i needed.

It would be very simple, surely to use a forum such as this to let people know they will be closed at this time.

The chemist said they have had people complaining today. I understand the need for staff training.. Just would be nice to know in the future so I don't waste petrol driving there!

write to the practice manager with your frustrations and concerns. If you have no joy then make your concerns and frustrations known to CQC - Care Quality Commission - they are the body who regulate and inspect GP's surgeries.

I have to say I have never had a problem getting an appointment but if I did and it was imperative I saw a GP then I would request a home visit.

No surprise that A & E departments are at breaking point if people can't get to see a GP when they need to.

This is a great practice, don't knock it. Have you seen the notice saying how many appointments were not kept, a staggering amount that's why they can't always fit you in. There is usually 'a doctor' available, maybe just not the one you request.

There was actually a sign on the door earlier in the week saying that they would be closed for staff training

The sign is only any good earlier in the week if you visit! I didn't not! Most surgeries seem to run this appointment system now..

There has been a message on the door for a couple of weeks. I happen to think it is brilliant the way they get the doctor to ring you back so a decision can be made as to whether a home visit is needed. I have found the receptionists to be friendly, competent and obliging and appts are offered pretty quickly. Probably some doctors are better than others but mine has been amazing and supportive in helping me with my husbands serious illness.

Is this thread about Liphook Village Surgery (behind Lloyds Bank) or do you mean Newtown Surgery in Station Road?
I have never been told to wait for a dr to call me back from the Village Surgery, but, from looking at their website, it appears to be the policy at the Newtown Surgery.
