South Downs National Park - Approved (I think)
- Tom H (31st Mar 2009 - 13:14:03)

News today that Ministerial approval has been granted for the South Downs National Park.

Inevitably, there are still a few things to be ironed out - mostly boundary disputes elsewhere.

Looking at the map for the Liphook area, we will be bound in to the South, East and West pretty effectively.

www.naturalengland.org.uk/..

What with increased access to the North with the Hindhead Tunnel, restricted development to the South but remaining outside of the park itself so we don't get some of the restrictions, Liphook looks to be in an enviable position?

Interestingly it puts the Bohunt Manor Estate inside the National Park, so I guess there is little chance of the land being built on now.

See this talkback thread

'Silent Garden' looks to be outside of the boundary and of course now has planning permission.

Shame they didn't include Weaver's Down or some of the area to the North (around Conford). At least the western Wield has been included though which is good news.
