Flooding in Church Road, Bramshott
- Cllr. Angela Glass (26th Aug 2014 - 08:39:50)
There is bad flooding, once again, just round the bend at the entrance to Church Road, Bramshott, making the road virtually impassable by car, and impossible on foot. The problem has been reported to Hampshire County Council Highways, and if you wish to track progress go to their website and enter Track It Number 21113032.
I am trying to get HCC to carry out works to replace the drainage around this hotspot, which floods every time we have prolonged rain.

Good luck with that, In my experience the Council just set the complaint to \"resolved\" without fixing the problem.
Would the Parish council be interested in using its \"Right to Challenge\" to take over the responsibility of road maintenance? This might mean local road issues being fixed rather than ignored by HCC.

For the record the last time this lane flooded, due to a blocked drain, it was bought to the attention of Angela Glass, one of our District Councillors, and the problem was sorted in less than 48 hours.
This is service of a very high degree and should be applauded.

It sounds a bit contradictory to me. Either the parish is responsible for the highways and all the extra costs of the extra manpower at a much higher council tax, or the County Council is, and they bear the cost.

Perhaps HCC only listen to District Councillors then, I will forward my road complaint to the DCs.
H - The Parish Council would get a grant to procure the services that they take over from HCC.

For the record, the last time the problem with this drain was 'sorted', it wasn't actually 'sorted' properly which is the problem. Everytime it rains heavily the road floods. However Angela is pursuing the problem again so hopefully it will be 'sorted' this time!

Well done Angela we can at least get out of the road and dont have to go all the way round. They were only taking the water away not solving the problem so heres to the next time. It is not helped by having cars parked in the road by the side of the flood making it difficult to get by and causing a wave which washes the bank down.
