Count us in Karen. Last year was a really good night and it was great to be supporting the Carnival to boot. It would be good to see this event better supported by locals though. It always seems a bit like the story of the little red hen, many are willing to enjoy the end result but aren't willing to come out and support the fund raising events that are needed to ensure that Carnival happens. I know the long hours you and the Carnival team put in with Fun days and fund raising so it seems little to ask for folk to buy a ticket and come and have a good night out while supporting a really worthy cause.

Thank you Marian, I know you will have a good evening and your message of support is very much appreciated. We as a community should be proud of our 'showstopping events' such as the Carnival and Fun Day, and I have to say that it is difficult to stay enthusiastic when it is such hard work getting people to come along and attend our fundraising events.
Perhaps people don't realise how much it costs to put on the Carnival and that we, the committee, raise most of the money needed. Incidentally, we also need some fresh blood on the Committee, so if you are interested in coming along to our next meeting it is on Wednesday (1st April - it's not an April Fools joke, we will really be there!!) at The Green Dragon at 8.15pm.
Many thanks
Karen F

- Finchie (30th Mar 2009 - 21:53:22)
Based on the quality and enjoyment of last Friday's, "Willows nursery" quiz, count me and Finchess in on a couple of conditions
- same questions (I might get a few right this time ! probably not !!)
- same slick table service, that was awsome
:-)
Look forward to it.
Cheers, Finchie, (specialist subject: Liphook posters 2002 to 2009)

Finchie
Delighted that you will be joining us at the Carnival Quiz. I cannot promise the same questions as last Saturday, but we do offer a waitress service so I can assure you that you will receive the same attentive and speedy service when it comes to bottles of wine and beer. Supper will be home-made aswell so expect a culinary delight.
How many tickets would you like - Mr Feeney is available for hire again (if he was any use at answering questions last week)?!!
See you soon

Finchie/Mr Feeney - could the Wilkinsons possibly join your team? Not sure how much help we will be - but Al has just read in the paper that a glass of red wine helps the brains cells so he has promised to drink even more next time??

Meant to say in my earlier postings that you can have up to 6 players in your team. If we could get 6 teams that would be even better. So far, if you have entered a team you are guaranteed a place on the podium??? .... Where are you all?
Finchie, looks like you will be getting your own dedicated waitress for the evening at this rate!
I know these events have a habit of 'being alright on the night' but it would be lovely to think that you might come along without being hounded quite this much!
I am saying no more on the subject!

Karen,
I am trying my best to swop my off duty(late shift) to come to the Quiz Nite in the aid of the Carnival but haven't had any luck so far.
I need to request days off about 6 weeks ahead so perhaps you could let me(and I am sure many others) know about the next event as soon as you set the date.
One of the reasons I want to be at the Quiz Night is to meet Karen and Finchie....they sound really fun people..am sure we would have a lot of laughs!
Sudha.

Sudha
Thankyou for your message! The next Carnival Fund raising event is the Fun Day on June 28th (we have already booked you a space!) At this point we are not sure what else we can/are able to do for the rest of this year, we are not doing sponsored walk this year so we may consider an event sometime after Carnival night (24th October). We are so desperate for new blood on the committee it is untrue, I may have to take a back seat next year for personal reasons and so we may well be looking for a new Chairperson. It has been said before, but I will say it again, without some more volunteers the Carnival may end up in a critical condition!

Without events like the quiz night, the fantastic carnival we hold every year wouldn't be possible, and every year it gets more difficult to raise the necessary funds. Without the carnival we wouldn't be able to donate money to local charities, but we can't do it without your help.
There are still tickets available for what promises to be a great night so to avoid disappointment get a team of 6 together and give us a call on 729389 to book your place. I look forward to being inundated with calls!

I've just been talking to Karen, Chair of Carnival committe and can't believe that they haven't even sold half of the tickets for Friday's quiz night. It seems the people of Liphook don't value Carnival enough to support the fundraising events that are a vital part of ensuring that Carnival goes ahead each year. The small dedicated team who put a huge amount of unpaid hours in every year to make Carnival happen must be wondering why they bother when there is such a poor response to their fundraising efforts. So come on Liphook ring up and book tickets. Let the Carnival committe know you support them and the wonderful job they do each year.

Karen and all involved,
Thanks for a brilliant evening. Very enjoyable (but we probably drank a little too much wisdom, judging by my head this morning).
I particularly enjoyed the cross-dressing round !
Cheers, Finchie

Well done Karen and all the helpers. Had a real fun evening and although we did not do that well we all had a good laugh. Looking forward to the fun day in June.

Thank you all for coming along last night and I am glad you enjoyed the evening! Think there may have been a few sore heads this morning judging by the amount of alcohol that was consumed.
Sorry The Quaffers didn't win Finchie, maybe next year I will join you and enjoy answering the questions for a change - not that my input will help much....
Congratulations to the Headley Road Headcases on their victory last night.
See you in June for the Fun Day!
