Start of the maltings
- Jo (8th Aug 2014 - 22:30:31)

I am sick to death of the inconsiderate drivers that park down the road ,starting from the junction of the maltings all the way down. You are unable to see what is coming and that is mainly because of two virgin vans that are stuck there all weekend and evenings.
Someone is going to have a nasty accident one day.

It's always been a bit iffy down there. We used to live half way down on the straight bit right on the 'bump' where you can't see what's on the other side, and I remember standing at my kitchen sink one day looking out over the road, and seeing a motorbike come haring down the road from the left and colliding with a car coming from the right - I can still hear the awful bang now..

Sounds like Malthouse Meadows people just do not park with respect for others. Double park or even worse park on our grass which is our property. Football fans are one of the worst, parents taking their children for lessons just can't be bothered to walk, have to park opposite each other instead of going further down the road. I am sure Emergency services wouldn't be ale to get through.

We're talking about The Maltings, not Malthouse Meadows.

I have to agree with the original poster, and I think the problem is getting worse. Visibility on the bend in the road can be almost zero due to the parked vehicles. They seem to increasingly be commercial vehicles, so large they really will be responsible for an accident. Perhaps the owners of said vehicles could exercise some basic road sense, and consideration to their neighbours and other road users.

I am glad that I am not the only one who thinks its dangerous to park there! I live down The Maltings and I hate that I can not even see due to the cars!

I remember seeing someone put a note on the cars parked there but people just seemed to ignore it!

Is there not anything we can do???

If these are commercial vehicles, could you not take a note of the company name/logo and report them?

In our broken society where personal responsibility is popooed - we need to involve Nanny. What about mobilising the authorities we pay and vote for (county council, police, parish, highways, Government 'Think' campaign, motorists associations...)?

Best of luck with trying to get the authorities involved, I have been trying to get parking restrictions along the Portsmouth Road for well over a year now, as trying to access my drive is a nightmare everyday, due to commuters parking their cars all day and night, mixed with people travelling through the village at SPEED.

Good Luck with your campaign.

Liphook seems to be one big car park at the moment, too many cars for houses with no drives and too many commuters not willing to pay to park.

I am so glad people feel the same. It has been so frustrating but downright dangerous and I am scared that something bad will happen.
Also the house on the right as you go into the Maltings has a lot of visitors that just seem to park anywhere they want!
One day I was following a lady round into the road and she just stopped! She had parked just at the junction, so now there was even more hazards to look out for.
The virgin mans van Please Go.

The Virgin Vans belong to two very nice young men that live in Wykwood, where there is no space for them to park.

The house on the right as you come into The Maltings is in fact now two flats, with very limited space for vehicles in the drive. Perhaps when they were given planning permission this should have been considered?

If we collectively contact the Council they might be able to do something?

I have spoken to the young men with the vans before and yes they were very nice but they have two very posh cars in their drive so why have two vans?
Anyway yes we could contact the council collectively that might help the situation.
