A plea to drivers using Chiltley Lane as diversion
- ZS (5th Aug 2014 - 09:52:08)

Please can I make a plea to all drivers who are using Chiltley Lane as a diversion to get around the village with the railway bridge shut. There are no pavements on the lane, and the lane is used by pedestrians and small children. Most of the lane is a 30mph limit, but please can I ask that cars drive slowly as it is narrow and there are alot of blind corners especially at the top end by Devils Lane, so you cant see pedestrians or animals easily. One of my black cats went missing yesterday and I am already worried he has been knocked down with all the excess traffic. I know it is massively inconvenient for everyone not being able to get across the bridge.

Many thanks.

Hear hear. And to add, highfield lane has two way traffic so an easier drive for most. At certain stretches (ie most) of chiltley lane it's one way traffic only so between that and the blind corners, the risk of head ons are high if travelling at speed.

PS I saw a very black cat with green eyes on my way home last night via berg estate onto Chiltley lane so that may have been yours - I hope.

Thank you. He has a brother who looks identical to him. The one who has gone missing has a red collar. I am hoping he is asleep in one of the fields but he always comes home at night and he didn't last night. Fingers crossed.....

It seems it is silly season in Liphook at the moment. Close one road and put up some signs and everyone drives around like headless chickens. Navigating through Liphook this morning gave me a dose of road rage I could have done without. People driving around at 10mph looking like they had arrived on a different planet, suddenly not knowing the roads in Liphook.

At least the signs have been moved off the road now turning left from the roundabout to Sainsburys. What bright spark thought it would be a good idea to place them on the road?
To the woman who indicated left to Sainsburys then changed her mind as I was about to turn right on to Haslemere Road THANKS a bunch!!

Traffic lights, two sets going out of Liphook on the Haslemere Road is it really necessary ?

Now we know why Devils Lane was resurfaced, extremely busy and I would have to agree please watch out for local cats that use these lanes, as well as the deer and other wildlife.

I walk up these lanes every day so i will keep my eyes open for your cat. I do see a black one regularly so I hope he is okay

I would have to say four weeks of this will drive us mad if we get such incompetence from drivers on the road.

Just to say our cat is still missing. We are off on holiday this morning for 2 weeks so timing is terrible. We do have someone staying in the house whilst we are away so please if you see him give us a call on 07979694455. My children are both extremely upset. Many thanks.

Re: Traffic lights - they are there for a reason - the set by the railway bridge is to allow big vehicles through that need to use the middle of the road instead of hitting the bridge and the 3 way lights are for a safety reason - have you ever tried turning right on the bend - a bit of commonsense please.
