Well Dawn....are you or aren't you....or is it a secret ?

Can't wait to read the manifestos!

Can we predict the upbeat, pro-Liphook, all-inclusive but anti-drinking, anti-Street Watch messages we shall be bombarded with?

Yes we can!

If (like me) your favourites link takes you straight to TalkBack, you will have missed the link on the home page called Parish Council By-Election.

The Ed has agreed to put post all of our flyers. There are 3 candidates running. I am one - but I don't know who the other 2 are yet.

I have just discovered that there are over 6,000 people eligible to vote. Amazing!

Well Paul, is it what you expected?

I am not anti-drinking
I am not anti streetwatch

I want to concentrate on what can be achieved and not what should be prevented from taking place.

I’m so fed up with all the negative press Liphook has attracted recently and think that if the council was more unified they would be far more productive.

The real fact of the matter is that I don’t know what has been achieved, what has been done, who did it and why. I should – but I don’t. All the time that the work of the Parish Council remains hidden from view – the people living here will moan and groan about the lack of amenities, lack of pavements, lack of transport, lack of zebra crossings, the amount of dog poo strewn around the place and have no idea whatsoever who is doing what to improve the problem.

I don’t even know what these people look like – let alone who they are. It’s all very well saying that meetings are open to the public, but really, who would choose a council meeting over putting their children to bed and curling up with a good book.

I certainly don’t profess to have all the answers here, but what about an up-to-date website, with photos of the councillors? Levels of attendance at meetings? Who is proposing what? Why things that don’t happen are objected to / on what grounds? Could even have a section where the public could communicate directly with what they want on the agenda at the next meeting? Etc etc At least then we would know who has been working away behind the scenes getting things done.

Dawn,

Excellent news that you've decided to become a candidate!.....

I might even make the effort to get off my backside and vote for you :D....BTW why can't we vote online??

I also agree about photos, although some might consider it an unimportant point. I would really like to see photos posted of all would be Councillors so I know whom I might be voting for! Apart from Nigel Newman, Anna James and Barry, I've absolutely no idea what any of them, past or present, look like.

I think you got it right there .. ! In your own words (about the people of Liphook):

" the people living here will moan and groan about the lack of amenities, lack of pavements, lack of transport, lack of zebra crossings, the amount of dog poo strewn around the place and have no idea whatsoever who is doing what to improve the problem"

Well done for standing, Dawn! Good luck!

Would love to see an updated PC section with more information and features. I was hoping more councillors would take part in a discussion about themselves and their views not that long ago when Barry was promoting his candidacy.

The more information that's released, the more connected people will feel with the work that's done. I do appreciate that it will take up some resources within the PC team but hope that this is something that we can look forward to this year.

Does Jeremy Austin Olsen have an election agent?.....I'm just wondering why he didn't write his manifesto himself or if he did make it sound as if it were written by somebody else.

A photo would also be nice!!

Eneida,
I am sorry for any confusion involving my posting on this website. I had produced some text for the Herald in their particular format and decided to share this with you after the kind invitation of the editor to allow election addresses.
I hope this clears it all up.

Jeremy
