Hollycombe Fairground Weekend & Mechanical Organ Gathering
- Martin Cooper (18th Jul 2014 - 00:10:38)

Hi folks, thought I'd post here on behalf of the Hollycombe organisation. This weekend coming is the annual Fairground Weekend & Mechanical Organ Gathering. The 2014 event is shaping up to be the best one for a couple of years.

Guest ride this year will be a 1970s Paratrooper ride (or Umbrellas as many will know) from regular visitors Harris Bros Old Tyme Amusements from Ashington in West Sussex. They will also be bringing their usual quote of smaller attractions for the families.

Many of the visiting organs date back to the 19th century. From hand-turned Street Organs to giant Fairground Organs a common sight at traction engine rallies and steam fair.

Inside the storage shed, will be a selection of award-winning fairground models. This includes the wonderfully lit 1:12 scale Galloping Horses Carousel which appeared at last year's show. Making a special trip down from Preston in Lancashire is a scale model working fairground Waltzer ride. Local modeller Martin Cooper from Bordon will be showing his attractions at his first local event of the year having extensively clocked the miles this year exhibiting as far afield as Leeds, Newcastle-upon-Tyne and Kirkcaldy in Scotland!

Lots more including the in house rides and attractions. Although the weather forecast may not be fantastic, there is plenty to do over-cover.

Hope to see many of you there. Should be a fantastic day out for everyone. Please be aware the season tickets cannot be accepted for this weekend. Thank you.
