Land adjacent to Maple Park development - Francis (12th Jul 2014 - 16:12:32)
The area next to the Maple Park development that was supposedly set aside for building a small estate for small businesses / start up businesses has allegedly had planning put forward for an old peoples home. Whilst this is a business it would not be in the spirit of what was meant to happen. Liphook is in danger of just becoming a dormitory town if this is permitted. There is a just about no space for small businesses and for real local employment.
Anyone with further information or thoughts please reply to this post. (I tried look at East Hants planning today but the site doesn't seem to be working!!!). Thanks.

Francis you are quite correct but unfortunately this is not a new problem it has been going on since Sainsbury’s took over the site. That whole piece of land was supposed to have been developed as a retail/business park. But 6 yrs ago Blue Harbour properties went to appeal to guess what to build a nursing home with associated employment housing. The parish council and EHDC fought against it but unfortunately the government representative had the wool pulled over his eyes and passed it. Hi Ho this changed the land into a green field site instead of a brown field site which meant it could now be used to build houses on it. 5 yrs down the line still no nursing home. They reapplied to keep the application open then within a month Wimpy put in the present application for houses. Now that was only granted if they built on the piece of land you are talking about the much needed business park when they have completed 10 houses. So here we go again they don’t want to build a care home it is just a front because there is already an appeal in for a nursing home at Bramshott Place. So if that gets the go ahead which it probable will then Wimpy will come back and say the nursing home was not needed and could they build more houses. This is what has happened on the whole of the site large developers running riding rough shod over Liphook’s urgent needs. Please all of you who have Liphook at heart come along to the planning meeting on Monday 14th July when all these applications are on the agenda including the chicken farm plan. Unless we all stand together and shout very loud against these stupid developments with no infrastructure they will turn our lovely village into a dormitory town. Can you imagine hundreds more cars having to go through our village square which is a conservation area. Does n’t bare thinking about. There should be no more house building until a ROAD SYSTEM IS SORTED OUT.

Hi Russ i can see the.Chiltley Development on the agenda but not all the
other applications? Of the large one I know about, the Lowesly Farm application is at the stage of being decided soon by EHDc, and Bohunt has not yet put in a formal. application, and Silent Garden got their permission years ago. It is only the Chiltley one as far as I can see.
It' d be wrong to mislead people and tell them they will all be under discussion surely?

They are not all on the agenda for tomorrow night just the Chiltley development and the OSU site has an application in for a nursing home. But the council need to look at Liphook and all the developments that are in the pipe line and make sure that the infrastructure is put in first before they build any more houses which we are going to get whether we like it or not.

The application for a nursing home on the former OSU site and the application for housing on the poultry farm off Chiltley Lane are just two of the items on the agenda for the planning meeting to be held at the Haskell Centre on Monday 14 July.
Whilst the planning committee welcome comments regarding these applications please note that any comments should be restricted to the planning applications themselves. The Parish Council are consultees in the planning process. It is EHDC who will make the decision on these applications and comments can also be made in writing or via the EHDC website.
