No water - station area
- JW (7th Jul 2014 - 15:26:26)

Has anybody had a problem with water supply in Station Road? No notice from water board and none of their phones shown online appear to be working. Have had no notice from them.

Just turned taps on, no water.

Over at Malthouse meadows end, reduced water out of taps. Less than Half normal pressure. Would be helpful to know what's happening. I hear the school wasn't flushing toilets because of the water problems...

I've started to save water for later... :-\

I rang South East Water, who said they are aware of the problem and are investigating. They do not, however, know when the problem is likey to be fixed. Not much help I'm afraid but that is all I can offer!

Have found a notice on the website www.southeastwater.co.uk that says there is a burst main near Greatham school.

Where: Greatham \ Liss area of Hampshire
Issue: Water Supply Issues - No Water
Latest update: 03:54pm 07 July 2014
Current status: Our technicians are investigating.

Our technicians have located a burst adj Greatham Primary School this is being isolated and back feeding the area, to allow some customers to have there water supply re-stored
South East Water would like to apologise for the inconvenience this may be causing.

Further update will be given as they are received

It is caused by a burst main at Greatham which feeds parts of Liphook. They are working to fix it now and water will be rezoned from elsewhere in the meantime.

The schools where stopping the children from using the toilets telling them they had to wait till they got home disgusting the juniors even locked the toilet doors

Oh so that's what happened!
We lost water too, I had a very grumpy partner as he had to finish his shower with what was left in the kettle..

My child told me that they were informed of the toilet situation in Assembly at the end of the school day .
I believe the school handled the situation in the best way they could given the very short time between the water going off and the end of the school day. Their duty of care in keeping the children safe in school rather than letting them find their way home 20 minutes early was priority in this case .
Logistically , how could they notify hundreds of parents to come & collect their child from school & take the risk that 100% of parents had received such text notification & would be allowing young children out of school early based on this assumption .
Could you imagine the complaints if they did

We are so lucky that we can just turn a tap on in this country,
& not walk for miles and miles to get a glass of dirty water to drink! We were only without water for a few hours, and everyone missed it.
