BT cable fault landline down - anyone else affected?

I've just had a difficult conversation with a BT customer service person regarding our faulty land line. Our line has been down since 11.45 this morning. I have managed to establish that a cable is down but I don't know how many other houses are affected. I don't have a time of repair. Does anyone have further information? Cheers, Sumi

Sorry, calling it cable misleading, we don't have cable, the BT lady used the term but we're actually talking about phone pole cables. I think. Hard to understand why it's down...

Thanks EB, it turns out it's just us...:-( hopefully being fixed soon. We are being offered compensation...
