Early morning wake up
- Jay (24th Jun 2014 - 20:12:46)
Does anybody know the lady who walks her two large poodles up Tunbridge crescent every morning at 5.45am?
She comes from The Mead direction and as she walks she shouts at the dogs, they bark and she shouts some more, in the winter we don't generally hear her and she only wakes us up occasionally but with the recent hot weather, and the windows being wide open, she is waking up not only us, but at least three other families I know of in Tunbridge Crescent. If you know her can you ask her to have some consideration at this time in the morning! Thank You.

This same lady is also waking up my daughter and making her rather grumpy! We too would be most grateful if someone knew this lady and were able to ask her to be a little more considerate at this early hour. Thank you.

We are often awoken by various noises , usually HGV lorries parking up waiting for the Business Centre to open ( not to mention the birds chirping from 4am , how dare they!)
To be quite honest , if you want 100% peace and tranquility then maybe consider moving into the middle of nowhere. Or do what I do , close the windows, invest in a desktop fan to keep cool & earplugs.
:)
I would have thought a gentle word with the lady in question would have been suffice instead of singling her out on here but that's Liphook for you

But Nicola, in order to have a 'quiet word' with the person, the OP would have to get up and dressed at 5.30 then wait for her to show up! What if she was a bit later that day, or what if she went on holiday for a week, before resuming her early morning dog walking?

I tend to sleep a lot during the day. I have a fan by my bedside and wear an eye mask. I also use ear plugs which work very well indeed.

If you know you have 'barky' dogs, and if you are the type of owner that feels the need to shout at your dogs, it is not good to walk in a residential street at that time in the morning.
Why should all the numerous residents be forced to have to close their windows in the hot weather because of the actions of one selfish person? Hot weather is such a luxury in this country it is very unfair to ask people not to enjoy it to it's fullest - it is lovely to sleep with wide open windows and the fresh breeze blowing in.
It is not hard to go to a non-residential area, neither is it hard to be quiet and not disturb sleeping residents. Just because you are awake it doesn't mean anyone else wants to be!

There's only one lady in The Mead with large poodles so far as I am aware. I think they walk through in the evening sometimes as well.
Our main noise disturbance comes from the traffic noise on the A3, at all hours, it never used to be so bad. Hey ho.

If you live near a road or industrial area you're going to get noise and should realise that before you move in, everyone hears the birds at silly o'clock in the summer and most people get used to it. However, this lady is being ignorant. If she's coming from The Mead/Tower Road area she's right on the doorstep to Radford park and the rec where she can shout and her dogs can bark as much as they like. Simples
