Splashing fun on stepping stones at Radford Park - Zoe (12th Jun 2014 - 22:30:18)
Thank you who ever put the stepping stones in the river by the bridge near the duck pond. My dogs and I have been having great fun splashing about and cooling off in the heat playing on these.
Brings back fun times as a child playing with my dog in Radford park.

I think it was some of the kids who were playing there at the weekend with the off cuts from the tidyup. I watched them for a while which was nearly as entertaining as going in myself. Unfortunately though some thoughtless idiot had thrown glass bottles in the stream and one of the boys stood on a massive section of the bottle with his bare feet. He was OK luckily and we threw the glass away but just be careful.

Thanks for the tip about the glass Susie. Will keep an eye out for it.
Glad I'm not the only one enjoying the fun in the river .

Disappointed is a understatement.
Who ever removed the stepping stones for health and safety reasons . You will not stop people playing in this part of the river.
The stepping stones are not the problem ,the idiots chucking glass bottles are. This is the health and safety hazards.
Are you going to drain the river water next .
You will not stop myself ,my dogs and others cooling off in the river.
By removing the stepping stones you have not spoilt our fun.

It would seem that mother nature was the health and safety remover.
The dogs and I have just walked along the river that runs behind the duck pond to the main (london) road bridge.
We found the stepping stones scattered along the river bank.
If anyone else tries to walk along the river . Wear an old pair of trainers or welly boots so not to cut bare feet. Take a long stick / branch with you. You can then feel your way along the river bank. When you find a very deep part ,either swim across or get out of river. Then get back in at a safer shallow part of river.(This is what I do these days)
I'm in my forties and have been walking this river since I was a child. So I know the deep parts and shallow parts of the river. It's not changed to much in the last 30 years. Just watch out for stinging nettles when climbing in and out of the river bank.
