Cold Callers - Richard Robertson (26th Feb 2009 - 22:32:38) I don't know if anyone else has just seen CRIMEWATCH on BBC1, but if you did you would have seen the story about the elderly gent who was beaten up in his bedroom up north. The thing that I am bringing to attention is that there were a couple of cold-callers in the area shortly before the incident (1 - 2 weeks prior) and one of them had the line that he was selling and was recetly out of prison. They could well have been totally unconnected to the assault, but last night (Wednesday) in Malthouse Meadows, we got a cold caller with a Northern accent, just out of prison selling. I phoned Hampshire police switchboard and they took details and said that there were some in Southampton a couple of weeks ago that were totally legitimate but they thanked me for letting them know, so I felt I should do the same on the website. So in a nutshell, probably totally legitimate, but forewarned is forearmed.
