Deer in the village
- Nicci (30th May 2014 - 09:29:22)

Last night I saw a little deer in my front garden on the Sainsbury's Estate.

He got a massive fright from the sound of a nearby train and ran off down Huron Drive.

I phoned the RSPCA who referred me to the police and the police couldn't really help either (understandably).

I do hope he found his way out back to his family.

Who should one call to try and rescue these little deer if we see one again?

I saw this! I was sat in Sainsburys carpark when it ran through, we saw it shortly after when we stopped to pick up Chinese from Lees.

I think it was running from something as it looked pretty scared.

I would leave alone. They have probably roamed in from local woods or park areas. There are a number of these deer living in Radford Park.

They live in the marshy parts people and dogs do not normally go. I often see them roaming about early in the morning or later in the evening over Radford and Bramshott common.

Deer are very shy you would find it hard to catch one.
they probably like the grass on the green to eat.

If they are eating your plants hang some blank cds on some string on some bamboo poles, this will keep them off. Deer do not like the shiny cd side.

Being brought up in the country we are taught to respect the wild animals. So if the deer are not injured leave them alone.

RSPCA will only usually help if the animal is injured.
