Shulbrede priory open day - sculpture exhibition
- Thea (23rd May 2014 - 19:00:19)

Hello all,
Just to tell you that a Scottish sculptor, Christopher Hall, will be showing his work this Sunday and Monday at Shulbrede Priory in Linchmere near Haslemere. It is their biannual open day and runs from 12 noon until 4pm.
Christopher Hall carved John Smith MP's headstone at Iona Abbey and has also spent the last 40 years recarving the worn pedestals at the abbey, which is the resting place of the Scottish Kings. His work in wood metal and stone is very figurative and abstract and beautiful.
Please tell your friends too - it is a great chance to see his work in England and see Shulbrede too! (a 12th Century former Benedictian priory which has beautiful halls and gardens.)

Hi, sounds like a lovely event and I would love to go.
How to get there is a problem though! Do you know if there are any buses that go near the priory please?

Hi there do not think so as it is quite remotely located near to the fernhurst furnace site in the countryside. It is also accessed from Lynchmere, it is a long walk unless you live in Lynchmere.

this priory is well worth the visit , I would recommend it to anyone interested in very old buildings and peaceful gardens. The family also make wonderful cakes to sell with a cup of tea.

Any one in Liphook up for a car share?
If there is no public transport, I don't see any other option!
