Dog Mess in Radford Park
- Paul Robinson (19th May 2014 - 12:59:58)
Many thanks for those members of the Radford Park Working Party for their efforts on Saturday morning in clearing the brambles and rubbish from the hedge rows on a scorching hot day.
No thanks are due to those dog owners who believe that their responsibility ends with scooping up their dog mess into a bag. For the uneducated the next step is to deposit these noisome bundles in the purpose built dog pooh bins located at the London Road gate and in the car park.
It is not acceptable to lob them into the hedge or, as some idiot insists on doing, to toss them in among the large rocks which is a children's play area.
Paul Robinson
Responsible dog owners are asked to point out to thoughtless dog walkers that their behaviour gives all dog owners a bad name.

Good luck with this task Paul.
There are many dog owners like myself who do pick up our dog poo and put it in the poo bins. I have also put over flowing poo bins into bags to keep them in one place till they can be collected.
There are also many dog owners like the young lad who I met earlier ,who needs to muzzle his vicious collie type dog.
If you have ever asked a dog owner who's dog is having a go at your two dogs , too control and muzzle their dog as it is vicious , Only to be told its playing .
When a dogs hackles are up and it's teeth are showing the dogs not playing.
It's getting ready to attack.
To be told that they know their dog and it's not vicious that you do not know what your talking about.
Even though my two dogs have calmly walked passed and ignored this vicious dog ,who is following behind showing teeth. (Owner could not calm the dog or recall it. )
THEN YOU HAVE NO CHANCE OF ASKING THEM TO PICK THEIR DOG POO UP.
Lucky for me I have trained my two dogs to ignore and walk on when other dogs attack.
I also know how to handle vicious dogs so my dogs feel protected by me.
You have no chance with any dog owners with this sort of mentality picking up their dog poo.
(I am not suggesting that this dog owner does not pick up poo. Just pointing out the stupidity of some dog owners)
If asking someone to stop your dog's from being attacked causes problems and abuse. What sort of abuse do you think your get asking someone to pick up dog poo.
You have no chance.

Interesting that the biggest beef seems to be (yet again) dog waste. Not broken bottles, cans, plastic bags and other "human" waste which potentially causes more harm to the wildlife.
Not saying that dog waste is good but it's a continuing theme despite the large amounts of other litter and waste left around the village. Let's moan about dog waste.
All waste needs cleaning up behind you - make use of the bins or take it ALL home.

In response to Zoe's message, I also had a Collie attack my Cocker Spaniel and it bit her nose. When I had a closer look there was blood coming down the inside of her nose. I now keep a wide gap when passing suspect dogs but you must blame the owners if they take anti-social dogs in public places.
It would be good to create a list of these owners and their dogs in case you see one coming towards you.
