Carnival Fun Day 2009
- Karen F (16th Feb 2009 - 20:58:33)
Well folks, the date has been set for this year's Fun Day and it is Sunday 28th June. We will be repeating the same format as last year, so anyone who would like to join our merry band of organisers or would like to take part, have a stall etc etc. needs to phone me on 01428 723971 to get more details or to obtain a booking form.
We are hoping this year will be as successful as last year and that we can repeat the outstanding feat of raising nearly £3,000 in one afternoon.
Best wishes
Karen Feeney

Just been to my first Fun Day meeting this year and it sounds as if it will be even better than 2008!
A shame that there are so few people offering up their time to help organise the event. The people involved work so hard to make it all come together and it would be good to see Karen getting a few more offers of help!
Hope some more locals take up the challenge...keep up the good work Karen and the Team!

- Karen (22nd Mar 2009 - 10:09:56)
Thank you for your support Helen and the wonderful work that PRC do to make the Fun Day a success. I am beginning to realise that quality not quantity is the way we see to go, and quite clearly great things can be achieved by a smaller, dedicated team!! However, you are right, it would be nice to have more support, as the Fun Day takes an awful lot of organising and we desperately need help on the stalls on the actual day. Can anyone spare half an hour to help, we run a rota system so you wont get 'stuck' on a stall!!!
With the 'Credit Crunch' hanging over us, I am expecting to struggle with Carnival sponsorship this year, so we need the Fun Day to make us even more money . Please come and do your bit for your community....tel: 723971
Regards
Karen

Hello Karen ,
Will the crafts be in the hall as in 2008 ? If so I can bring my lathe along and do some turning throughout the day.

I will speak to Ben to find out how many other Producers Market folks want to come along aswell.

Re: Carnival Fun Day 2009
- Karen (29th Apr 2009 - 14:51:23)
We are now taking bookings for stalls and attractions for this year’s Fun Day which takes place on Sunday 28th June. The event, which is held on the Village Green and in the Millennium Hall, will run from 11am – 4pm.
You can download a stall booking form by clicking here
The first Fun Day, which we held last year, was a huge success with several hundred people coming along and enjoying the array of entertainment which was provided by local dance groups, fantastic band (who are booked to come back this year!) the delicious Links BBQ and Bar plus a whole host of stalls for adults and children alike. The whole purpose of the event is to raise funds to stage the Carnival so we hope you will put the date in your diary and come along and enjoy the best that Liphook has to offer again this year.
Keep an eye on this website for more information as we confirm bookings and attractions in the coming weeks.

Tell everyone you know and put the date in your diary, 28th June from 11am - 4pm on the Village Green and in the Millennium Hall.
See you all on the day.

Dear All
Final preparations are now in full swing and we are at the point where we are trying to put together a rota for some of the stalls that we have. If anyone feels they could donate half an hour of their time on the day to help I would be very pleased to hear from you. It would only be half an hour and just think how good you would feel being part of the day and helping us raise money for the Carnival. Give me a call if you are interested - 723971.
Many thanks
Karen

Good luck Karen and team, if this year's event is anything like as good as last year it will be fantastic, and judging by the amount of work that you have put in for the past few months it cannot fail.
All that remains is for the people of Liphook and their friends to come out and support the event that is a credit you and your team.
Let's hope the sun keeps shining....

Kevin,
Buy Karen flowers as a thank you, and talk to her - don;t post, she is in the same house man ! However I do agree - she is a star.
Next you'll be emailing here for permission to go drinking !! (Actually not a bad idea - I usually text).
Seriously though, I am looking forward to it - I will be there watching the petting come rain or 'shine.
Cheers, Finchie

Finchie,
Watching the petting? Perhaps you had better bring your mac, come rain or shine!
See you on Sunday.

I think its great that Karen’s husband posts about the work she puts in. All to often people take for granted the work others do for the community, after all he will know first hand the commitment and time it takes - he probably has to put up with an awful lot, when phone calls, bookings, etc happen right at the wrong moment - I suspect he is left to dish up dinner for a family while Karen is busy organising something.
I know, it has happened in our own household too!

Actually Mr Feeney lives in Jersey from Monday to Friday (thanks to the lack of jobs in UK) so Mrs Feeney does all the food dishing up and child care herself in between phones calls, emails and texts about Fun Day! Haven't spoken to Mr Feeney properly for about three months now so did appreciate his comments on this site!! See you on Sunday - and the weather IS GOING TO BE OK, isn't it???? Finchie, see you at the petting farm...

Just a quick line to wish Karen and the team success for Sunday.
I'am double booked but will try to get up early afternoon if I can escape, not sure yet wether to tunnel out or attempt a launch over the wire.
Finchie, your obviously a master at this, any suggestions!

One word - OUSTANDING. Karen - fantastic work to you and all involved. Listening to the band at luchtime, I'm sure that was how Glastonbury started ?!! I can see it now Feenybury, Glastonhook or maybe just the Liphook Festival ...!?
Sadly, overindulgence the day before prevented me from even thinking about petting, drinking the beer or having the food but young son had a go on everything and went home absolutely delighted with a huge grin !
Cheers, Finchie

May I also add my family's thanks to Karen, the Carnval Committee and all those manning the stalls & running events last week. It was a wonderful sight to come onto the Green and see so many stands and people milling around in the sunshine! It made me really proud of our village and our community life.
I really appreciate the effort you all put in to make it such an enjoyable day and I hope you made LOADS OF MONEY!
thanks again,
Sumi
