Holes in The Avenue
- Dawn Hoskins (13th Feb 2009 - 10:02:08)

Is it me, or have the holes in The Avenue got substantially bigger in the last week?

I plonked down into one this morning on the school run and noticed that there was gravel / stones all around it – like they had been thrown out of a sandpit!

I take it that the infants haven’t been out in the road with their buckets and spades?!

Have reported said holes to County Council, so we can expect them to be outlined with a blue spray can soon!

May be a good Idea to put your snorkling gear in the boot just in case they get bigger in the mean time.

What is it with Liphook and the state of roads? The Headley Road has resembled a patchwork eiderdown since I was old enough to drive my very first car; a Mk2 Escort on a 'P' plate - and thats not a 1996 'P'.

Too much traffic, too many HGVs! It's time something was done to reduce the amount and ban the HGVs altogether from using this road!

Banning those HGV's may not be a very popular idea for the local hauliers that have to use Headley Road for access or for deliveries to the Co-OP!
The roads need to be maintained to a higher degree to cope with the extra use.
You dont see busy roads in are euro neighbours in such a state and they have a lot if not more HGV's on them!

I meant the really HEAVY goods vehicles not the smaller lorries like the one deliverying to the to Co-op. There are HUGE vehicles trundling up and down this road that are too big to fit within one lane. Many of them are trying to avoid the turmoil on the A3.

Well there is haulage company based in between Bramshott and Passfield who trundle articulated lorries on the Headley road fairly often.

But as they've been there since I can remember (35 odd years) then it'd be unfair to blame them for the state of the roads.
