Sainsburys petrol
- Susie (8th May 2014 - 17:31:41)

I filled up my tank today and half way down to Portsmouth my engine warning light came on and struggled with acceleration. It's still on and I know from an experience a few years ago that it could mean I have fuel contamination. If anyone else has had problems today it would save me having it tested, if I hear nothing then I will have to get it looked at by the garage for a fault.

Thanks

Yes their petrol and other supermarkets are bad. I have been using shell,bp etc. it is apparently a more superior fuel.
Your poor car. X

Did you get it sorted, I personally have had no issues

I would say that stating supermarket fuel is bad, is a touch misleading. Millions of people use it with no problems. I nearly always use supermarket fuel (albeit super UL) in my fairly powerful car without a problem.

A bad batch of fuel is possible. It's happened before. But I'd say it's much more likely to be an unrelated problem. The engine management light can come on due to a huge range of possible troubles.

In a nutshell, bad fuel is possible, but its more likely to be something else.

The same thing happened to our car after filling up at sainsburys a few days ago. The message has now cleared off the screen.

My partner filled up with diesel last night and now our light has come on. Anyone else had problems again recently?

My light did go off shortly after filling up somewhere else. They obviously have a problem somewhere.
I no longer buy petrol there, Morrisons is usually cheaper and it's on my way home or the A3 one and I pop in for a Starbucks.
