The Green Dragon
- Jackie (6th May 2014 - 18:12:18)

We had a meal with some friends in The Dragon on Saturday night - great service, lovely food, very reasonable prices. We have also had a superb Sunday lunch. Give it a go - you won't be disappointed.

We have just got home from having a wonderful roast dinner and we could not fault it. The meat both beef and lamb was delicious and lots of different veg cooked to perfection. We now have what Liphook lacked a proper village pub with good food, friendly staff and a lovely atmosphere. O and of course great beer.

I had promised my boys we would go for a roast today but was told when we got there that they stop doing food at 4.
So we went to the Anchor and had a great meal there instead. No staffing problems or food issues, in fact after a bit of research I can declare that the Anchor do a better warm fudge cake than the Woodlark.

We went into the dragon after being recommended, the decor was definitely an improvement but what we witnessed after sitting down was disgraceful. A man at the bar obviously drunk was saying disgusting things to the bar maids who actually laughed and thought it was funny.. When I say disgusting im no prude but this was bad. He then proceeded to say awful things to a lady that was in there to play pool with her son they left very soon after. There didnt seem to be any management around and the mans dog was disturbing diners. We were very disappointed.

Hi Kenb,
The Green Dragon is a community PUB.
People drink alcohol there and, yes, they may even get drunk. It should really be a place for adults.
Should we run a Best Behaved contest, why listening into other peoples' conversations?
Please don't try to turn our pub into a doctor's waiting room or yet another characterless "family pub", let the pub be a pub.

At the end of the day, the green dragon will always be the green dragon, refurbished or not.. And it has always been one of the more rowdy pubs in liphook, so it shouldn't come as a huge surprise that it still is..

The pub is a public house and open to all those the landlord/landlady deem suitable. If He or she realises that bad behaviour might put off other paying customers from using the pub, they might do something about it. It is not the pub to blame for bad behaviour, it is the management for allowing it to carry on. I think these days a pub should be open to all comers young old, middle aged, and people should feel it is a comfortable place to have a drink. I went in recently and yes a drunk who was behaving badly put me off using it again. A pub should be a friendly place not a gathering hole for the alcoholics who have been barred everywhere else!
