Cockerel Found
- Louise (29th Apr 2014 - 18:13:20)

Very impressive looking cockerel in back garden on Headley Road - turned up last night and still there today! Anyone have any ideas on who he is?

I can pass on a phone number of someone who would probably take him or know what to do with him. I doubt if he is getting enough to eat?

Hi,

If this cockerel is grey and black with red on it's head, then it is a chicken and lives in our garden in Tunbridge crescent. It even lays eggs for us!

Cockerel's don't lay eggs!!! It must be a chicken!!!! It is in our garden this morning (Tunbridge Cres). I feel an egg coming on! Does anyone know where it comes from?
It's not very friendly so would be difficult to catch.

Seen chicken your talking about and not the same - this is a cockerel. The Garden backs onto the fields on the Headley Road. If still around today will try to catch and ideas on what to do with him?

Sorry can't resist.... Carrots, potatoes, bread sauce and gravy.

Why not try Golden Valley Poultry,Grayshott.Tel.01428 606231.
They took in a cockerel that friends of ours found last year.

The cockerel is needing a home or sorry to say will be despatched. Have called numbers that people have past on to me but it seems like no one wants him. Have a feeling that maybe he was dumped due to the problem of what to do with cockerels. Poor lad now on borrowed time. Last call out for a home for him. 01428 723340

So you're going to take the thing in and then just kill it?.... If you're going to do that then surely you'd be better off putting it back in the garden since it seems to have been doing okay until now.

Plus you've only had it 2 days, not everyone in liphook is on this website and it may well belong to someone somewhere. Imagine coming back from holiday to find someone has killed your chicken for example.

Come and look after until they come home - give me a call and I'll drop round at yours - many thanks for your reply.

Yup the world has gone bonkers.

A pair of Mallards wandering along Tunbridge Lane for the last week. They either can't hear the stream or are choosing to ignore the stream. The bloke is always following the lady. I think she is trying to lose him - unsuccessfully. However she is not exactly running and likes to keep looking back to check he is still following. I think he should play hard to get.

The Mallards are pretty streetwise/"car aware" - almost arrogant. Unlike the grouse who seem to see a car and then wait, and wait, and wait and then run right in front of it at the worse possible time. I can only conclude that the grouse shooting season is all about helping save them from themselves.

I think they are all waiting for the toad crossing, which should be happening pretty soon.

I'll keep you all informed as this unfolds.

Cheers, Finchie
