On Monday the 12th May at 7p.m,a talk is being given at the Liphook Day Centre by Pam Frost on the subject of Dementia and Alzheimer's.
So anyone in the Community who would like to attend to learn more is very welcome to attend. It is hoped that we can make Liphook a dementia friendly Community.
Dementia affects everyone differently, symptoms can include problems with memory - carrying out everyday tasks - communication and visual perception.
If you play an active role in your community or work with an organisation or business serving the community, the likelihood is that you regularly meet people with dementia.
You can help to ensure the best possible experience for these individuals and help them to remain independent for as long as possible.
Thank you for your reply Richard. There is no need to book the evening is open to anyone who would like to come. It is not a talk that will solve each case it is really to get advice and be signposted to the correct people who can help and give support with problems and who understand Dementia & Alzheimers which a lot of families have to cope with..
Just to bring this item to the top and remind everyone that the talk on Monday at 7p.m. is arranged for anyone in the Community interested in learning about Dementia & Alzheimers.
So many people suffer from the illness and any support that can be given for them to live independently and continue to be part of the community and at the same time are met with understanding.
I think it is fantastic you are facilitating this, is it part of the Dementia Friends initiative?
learn more - fear less ....... please attend this if you can.
I am so pleased I recognised the signs of dementia in my mum and was able to support her and my dad through the diagnosis process and put in place positive support.
We all need to know how to effectively help and support people with dementia be they family, friends or the person in the queue at Sainsburys.
Thank you to everyone who came to the talk on Monday evening and hope that you found it helpful.
If anyone would like further help or advice please contact your own doctor to discuss your worries or contact the Alzheimers Society 02392 892034 for a chat or e-mail at portsmouth@alzheimers.org.uk. who will be pleased to help.
