rogue Posties
- adam (9th Feb 2009 - 23:20:08)

Has anyone noticed this occurance in our village. I was walking along the station road and was aghast to see a postie putting a large amount of mail back into a post box. I hope this postie was not trying to finish his shift early.

Posties who start work at 5am are allowed half an hour for breakie if they have time especially if there is 4 inches of snow outside ! They go out in all weathers so arn`t they entitled to a bit of warmth this time of year ?

Here here Karen! breakfast with his Auntie oh reeally leave the chap alone! our Liphook posties are great and yes they do go out in all weathers, not everyone would do that!

Just thought I'd reply to Roys comments about the postman who has breakfast with his auntie - is that the auntie who happens to be totally blind and relies on her postie to ensure she is alright and to tell her if she has important mail that needs urgent attention. Maybe it is the same postman who often gets wet down to his underpants when it rains just to get your mail to your door, do we really deny a cup of warming tea? He doesnt have breakfast there as his good wife (ME) ensures he has breakfast before he leaves home. Get your facts straight Roy!!!

Our postie is Jamie too and he is fantastic. It is amazing how we knock people of the community for doing good deeds and caring for people. We should all be doing what that postie has been doing and care for people around us.... just think how good that might be !

Our postie is Mick Suter and I have lost count of the number of times he has thoughtfully locked my front door when I have left it ajar dashing out to work.

He is really most thoughtful to all of us in the Headley Road and it is a comfort knowing that he is keeping an eye on things while he carries out his job.

Only on one occasion has he let me down. He once found a bewildered Springer Spaniel wandering down Headley Road and collared it and tossed it into our garden. Thus we and our own Springer Spaniel, Millie, were puzzled by this strange dog rooting about in the herbaceous borders. It was later reunited with its owners thanks to the combined efforts of Liphhook.co.uk and the local radio station.

Our postie is a very helpful, happy postie, he always has a smile and a joke for us. I have offered him tea coffee and I would even offer him breakfast, he has always refused as he has to get to everyone, so what if he does stop to see his blind auntie, it may be the only person she meets in a day, where is the compassion from the gentleman who is so offended.

I cant believe how many people have stuck up for their posties - well done to you all, I think my husband does a good job too, he loves his job(not many of us can say that!) and he enjoys chatting to folk and cheering them up, he always say it doesnt cost anything to smile!! Keep on giving them your support especially if your name is ROY!!

My partner is a postman in Liphook and I think they have a very difficult job - out in the cold weather all day.

So, I think if someone is kind enough to offer a cup of hot drink - that's lovely and shows that they have a lot of respect for our posties.
