More air traffic if proposals approved

Last night's community forum meeting at the Millennium Centre heard an excellent presentation from the Lasham Gliding Club on the very concerning plans to increase airspace for Farnborough Airport. This will have a direct impact on Liphook and surrounding villages and towns.
Please respond to the consultation with your concerns.

I understand that the proposal is for private executive jet engined aircraft to be able to use much lower airspace (less than 4000 ft) in a fairly narrow corridor from the south coast up to Farnborough.
Liphook is pretty much central to this corridor. It means lots more noisy jet engines going overhead plus the other airspace users such as helicopters, gliders, air balloons, hang gliders etc having to be squashed into the airspace below that.
Forget about your peaceful countryside. If you dont want to feel like you are under Heathrow flight path then go on the website and object to these proposals.

Page B42 of the consultation document maps the likely arrival direction of aircraft by altitude band. It suggests the airspace above Liphook would most likely see arriving exec jets within FL030 and FL050 (due to IFR separation) with corresponding decibels equivalent to traffic noise from a busy road. I read it that we would have statistically less than one aircraft per hour by 2019. (will stand corrected on this point) arriving overhead from the south.
While I doubt we could really describe this as being like living near Heathrow, it is an increase in the number of aircraft arriving at lower altitude over the town.
I will be signing the petition.

They certainly know how to bamboozle the general public who are ignorant of the terms and acronyms; that is probably the aim. However, the bottom line is that we would see a lot more low flying aircraft in the vicinity to favour TAG's efficiency in clearing private executive and business flights. TAG is a private concern and is not an airport used by the general public.
What next for the south-east which is becoming more and more crowded and polluted every year!

Speaking as one who attended the recent Community Forum and saw the presentation with regard to this forthcoming application for increased and much lower air corridor to and through Farnborough, I would like to forward the following facts that were presented by a recently retired Air Traffic Controller.
At present flights out of Farnborough are split thus, 45% exit via Compton beacon (between Newbury and Reading), 45% exit via Chichester and Goodwood and just 10% exit via Four Marks and Southampton.
If TAG Farnborough are successful in their application the Compton route will cease and all flights will enter and exit via the other two routes and at much lower altitudes in order to fly under the existing corridors from Heathrow and Gatwick used by the big jets. Needless to say The Southampton route will greatly affect Grayshott, Liphook, Petersfield, Alton and surrounding villages.
A word of warning. Those who access the TAG Farnborough site will be asked a bunch of questions by them before you can penetrate the site to make your protest.
It is reccommended that you find out their postal address or e-mail address and make you protest in that way.

Having read the info on the TAG site my understanding is that Liphook shouldn't get many more departing (noisier) flights over the town but will see an increase in arrival (quieter) flights. Personally I find that acceptable.
The main change that could affect Liphook is the re-routing of air traffic from RAF Odiham. At the moment it appears the flights head west from Odiham but under the new proposals they will head south and then turn southwest directly over Liphook. I don't understand what traffic this is (Chinook Helicopters or Jets) but either could have quite a detrimental effect on Liphook. That I do find worrying, especially if it's night time flights of transporter planes and Chinooks!
Suggest everyone has a good look at the full proposals and makes up their own mind.

Please note this on the TAG website, which extends the deadline for submissions to 12 May, but states that any submissions made between 11 and 16 April have been lost.

So TAG Farnborough have lost all the submissions made between 11th - 16th April ! And these are the people who we are to entrust with the airspace above our heads!
As I said in my posting above:-

I suppose it is conceivable that they could have taped up their letter box!

Reminder - please respond to this if you can - deadline is 10am tomorrow (Monday). Be patient in cutting through the waffle that TAG Farnborough have put in your way and make your feelings known.
Read Tom Horwood's written response to the proposal (dated 8th May) on the East Hants Community website. You can follow the link in his earlier post on this thread. This gives a good overview of the potential impacts this proposal would have.
