Station car park
- adam cross (15th Jan 2009 - 22:34:33)
does any other local resident take offence to our local station car park being frequented by couples at late evening / night in cars. I find this quite distasteful and is spoiling our wonderful village. What can be done

No, I don't.

Take a torch and shine it into the car or a camera and pretend to photograph them!

At least while they are in their cars in the station car park, they are not breaking into vehicles!!

Hasn't this sort of thing been happening in car parks since the year dot???
Why don't you avoid going there late at night, if you find it so upsetting!

I'd rather they road test their suspension than cut down trees or abuse passengers getting off the train, deal in drugs and generally get smashed on cheap drink.

Re: Station car park
- adam cross (16th Jan 2009 - 22:46:00)
what this previous poster just simply fails to understand is that i am crossing the station after getting the last train home from my line dancing class. I find this simply shocking and i am quite aghast at this moral outrage / degradation. I also saw this in Sainsbury car park and had a sharp word with their lovely duty manager

Adam, this can't be for real! why don't you pull your stetson down over your eyes when coming off the train.

Steve,
I also wondered if Mr. 'Grumpy' was winding us up :D

Re: Station car park
- adam cross (17th Jan 2009 - 19:18:11)
wind up - i dont think so standards in the community are at an all time low and its time that a stand was made. I have writen to British Railways Board and also to Jeremy Hunt MP to have this matter addressed once and for all. I would urge others to take the same stance

- Sue W (17th Jan 2009 - 20:36:19)
Perhaps if Adam is so shocked, he could offer them a 'decent' place while he is out!!
As far as I know the Station Carpark is not particularly a well used area - apart from other 'offensive' groups and of course those innocent train travellers - but from what I recall it goes on in the trains too!!
"Oh no it doesn't"
"Yes it does"

Re: Station car park
- adam cross (17th Jan 2009 - 22:50:51)
I feel that some of these comments have deviated from the serious nature of my issue. This is a public space and innocent passers by should not become subject to such displays. When I was a lad the local bobby would not have condoned such behaviour. I will be petitioning British Railways with the suggestion that they provide a security guard to stop this outrage. I would like to ask that fellow readers join me in contacting the local paper, our MP and British Rail. If our street watch gets off the ground then I hope that this will cover this area . I for one will wager my support on this venture

I would urge others to take the same stance - then all take five steps to the right, clap ur hands, turm around and take five steps to ur right yee haa!!!!!!

Re: Station car park
- Chris (18th Jan 2009 - 09:16:00)
Adam, you wouldn't be the same person that advised us all that planning permission had been granted for a Disney style theme park on Conford Moor or that gave us the seemingly sensible but obviously inpractical advice regarding the breeding of a certain person's pet cat?

Re: Station car park
- Sue w (18th Jan 2009 - 12:21:49)
Adam,
You may have a point - but I would rather see security at the station to sort out the drinkers, drug takers and generally socially unacceptable behaviour - but as yet there has been a distinct lack of presence. The upshot of placing a force of some kind will help with your situation.
However - going to the press could be dangerous as I feel headlines like 'Liphook resident has gone bonking mad' - may not help!!

- Eneida (18th Jan 2009 - 15:33:33)
Adam,
On the off chance that you're actually not doing a wind-up...may I point out that the MP for Liphook is the lovely James Arbuthnot!!
Jeremy Hunt, who you've apparently written to, although I'm sure equally lovely, looks after South West Surrey......

Re: Station car park
- adam (19th Jan 2009 - 23:09:15)
Eneida,
I am fully aware that J Hunt is not directly responsible for Liphook but he is a wonderful MP who has taken a great stance on similar issues and has the power and contacts to get something done.

Re: Station car park
- adam (19th Jan 2009 - 23:24:25)
Chris, old chap,
I have come on here to start a debate regarding the decline in morals within our Christian village rather than play a silly bun fight of words related to cat farming and a new theme park that may or may not be opened locally . I have never heard of this local issue and I feel your comments have detatched the message that I am conveying

That confirms it then - it's a wind up.
The 'old chap' line has finally convinced me.

Re: Station car park
- Eneida (20th Jan 2009 - 11:33:28)
I agree it's a wind-up....the pathetic excuse for naming the wrong MP for Liphook convinced me.
In any case this person isn't trying to start a 'debate' about morals here.....he's trying to start arguments IMO.

A bit of fun methinks! More fool us for entering into prolonged serious debate about so obvious a ruse. Rant about mis-use of the site to follow.
"Adam" (for it is he)...3 nil.

I actually agree with Adam and feel that this issue needs to be addressed. I have taken his advice and also written to Mr Hunt. Its a shame others would rather laugh then watch the moral decline of our country. This would not be tolerated in other countries and rightly so ..

Ho ho. Adam, now you're pretending to be a woman. Well you don't fool anyone.

Re: Station car park
- Stephen (21st Jan 2009 - 16:57:33)
In fact, I think its actually Adam and Jane themselves steaming up cars in the car park. The purpose of Adam's post is to draw attention to them for some wierd exhibishionist purpose.

Re: Station car park
- The Reverend Bent (22nd Jan 2009 - 01:09:28)
Clearly, you have idendified the root of the problem here. Adam, if that is his real name, is quite carried away with the prospect of witnessing couples in intimate situations in public places, but, if he had a religious upbringing, would choose to go into a position of "denial"
As a man of the cloth I bear witness to much of man's weaknesses, and would urge Adam to seek profession guidance sooner rather than later.
God bless you, my son,
Rev. W. Bent

Is the "denial" position in the book? I'm not an expert on the Kama Sutra.

Re: Station car park
- Jane (22nd Jan 2009 - 22:59:17)
I feel that this debate has now strayed away from the original issue which is morality in modern day life and its impact upon our village into an investigation into the writters of these posts. This is getting away from the original post subject. For the record Chris and I both work for the same local supermarket and have used an office system to make these comments so hence the IP address could be the same. Is there any other points other readers would like to raise or anthing else people would like me to clarify. I came on here to support a collegue not to be ridiculed. Thank you

Re: Station car park
- Dawn Hoskins (23rd Jan 2009 - 09:32:03)
Jane
I am sorry if you feel ridiculed.
Due to the language / choice of words / tone of the original posts, it has been unclear whether it was a genuine or a spoof posting. I was giving it the benefit of the doubt myself until one post opened with the line , my dear chap. You must admit that this is not normal conversational tone and you must also appreciate therefore why a number of locals have assumed that this has been a jolly jape rather than a serious debate.
It would appear that you are a genuine individual, so I apologise to you if I have made you feel silly.
On a serious note, I have never noticed any goings on in the car park – but do agree that the youth that hang around there seem to be unsavoury individuals who have often intimidated and abused commuters getting off trains whilst they are waiting for the bus to Bordon.

Re: Station car park
- Sue W (24th Jan 2009 - 09:54:00)
Jane
Why did you say 'Chris and I', when the poster was 'Adam'?
I can quite easily see people using the car park for the purposes you mentioned, but I don't think that it is the reason of Moral decline today - as others say, it has been going on for years!!.
If it offends any one (as I am sure it would), then that is an issue they have to deal with.
Now, if they were leaning against the doorway, in the open or on the street, I think you would have a lot more support!
Good luck with your campaign - Chris, Adam and Jane! (And possibly Eve)

Re: Station car park
- barbara (25th Jan 2009 - 14:39:37)
whether or not this is a genuine posting or not, it has opened a debate anyway. If this is a real problem, and presumably SWTrains own the land, surely it is better to take it up with them to install better lighting etc etc and make the site so unapealing for this sort of thing. Also as it is still I think an offence cannot you interest the police in this? Liphook today has a population of aound eight thousand people, so to sweetly refer to it as a Christian Village is in my opinion living in the past.

Barbara,
I feel you are encouraging the boy. Petition whomever for better lighting, if you wish; do not think that this will just get him even more excited?
