Resignation
- nikki (14th Jan 2009 - 19:20:30)

Dear all,

I'm letting you know that due to work & family commitments, I have now resigned as a Councillor for the Parish.
I'd like to thank everyone for their support during my time on the Council and I shall remain actively involved in the Community.

Regards,
Nikki

Dear Nikki

I understand that you must put home and family first, but what a shame to have lost you.

I am sure that all councillors work their socks off, but you were one of the few that kept us informed of what you planned, what you achieved etc. It is this direct communication that gives us the peace of mind that the parish council is actually a functioning organisation.

I know that we can all attend meetings etc, but most of us are cooking dinner / putting children to bed / on the way home from Waterloo – so it was such a breath of fresh air that you were prepared to stick your neck out and tell us your intentions (even when they didn’t go to plan i.e.: being told there were rare frogs around when actually the planning dept had forgotten to apply for planning permission!! Ha Ha).

I hope that you have set a precedent with your open and frank attitude and that the person to step into your shoes is big enough to fill them.

Regards

Dawn

I also am sad to see you leave council, and am upset the local paper did not even have the decency to print your first name, The headline was Young to leave council, which I think was disrespectful.

Very sad to see you go Nikki, you made a positive and refreshing effort for the community whilst on the council and I am sure you will be missed. I know you will still want to keep a keen interest in what is going on in the parish and your comments and opinions would still be very much of value.

Take care.

Best wishes
Barry

Nikki,

I know what i will say may not be nice reading, but this comment has been said a few times and is one that crossed my mind too.

'Now that most of the problems facing Passfield, i.e. the Play ground, the path, the road surface and the speed reductions have happened (may not be the signs up to date), your job is now over!'

Sorry to see you go, as I understand that there is a great need for someone who is prepared to ask questions and go that bit further - but now it is of absolutely no good to anyone. Such a shame that another councillor cannot for what ever reason last the distance........

Sue,

I shall, from now on..be working monday nights. This will clash with council meetings so I have resigned.

It has nothing to do with not going the distance or that i've left because some problems in Passfield have been resolved..it is to do with not being able to physically be in 2 places at once.

I'm sorry but my employment comes first.

Sue
What a load of tripe.
Rude and uncalled for in my opinion.

Re: Resignation
- Sue w (18th Jan 2009 - 22:56:01)

Dawn,

You are entitled to your opinion, and SO AM I and others. I do not think the post was rude.

The post was not disrespectful at all IMO- may be a bit frank and honest (which I had already expresses may not read well), in fact if you read the words and content, I gave praises to Nikki. Is it so wrong to relay comments heard? and in fact it gave Nikki the chance in HER own words to dispel any 'gossip' that has already been uttered.

I know you will not appreciate it, so I will say well done to me to enable her to set people straight. LOL

You are always banging on about the problems of the Council, if one of the only good fighting councillors leaves - did this not bother you? - There is as I said too many resignations, FOR WHAT EVER REASON.

Good luck to Nikki, and of course earning money in this environment is of utmost importance, and I am sure for her it is the right choice - just sometimes those who are in a position to do good, actually leave prematurely.

I know first hand what it is like to need money - not just from a job, but when changes happened in our livelihood, I got on with finding other employment, and had to make changes in my routine too.

I am sure you will find this tripe also, add a portion of onions to it from me!!

Good evening to you

Good luck to you Nikki. Personal & family life must always come first but through this site you can still continue to make a big contribution to the community of Passfield. A hard act to follow.

Re: Resignation
- Dawn Hoskins (19th Jan 2009 - 13:54:26)

Sue, please accept my apology. That was an ill thought response on my part.

I know that there has been a lot of rumour and speculation about. I have heard it too. Nikki is of course bound by confidentiality even though she has left - so all the rumour and speculation will remain just that – rumour. It’s a bit like kicking a dog when it is down – they don’t have a chance to respond.

I do happen to know that Nikki has had her work schedules totally revamped and is working more nights than days in future. It is difficult enough to keep house, marriage and motherhood together without working all the hours under the sun – let alone be an unpaid volunteer as well. It would be impossible to continue if you could not attend any future committee meetings.

The only reason I flippantly responded, for which I apologise, is that I thought you were insinuating that Nikki was being a lightweight and chucking things in without good reason.

Although I do not wish to be rude Sue have you ever considered standing for the Bramshott and Liphook Parish Council?

There have been quite a few times in the past when you could have stood, and now is the perfect opportunity for you to apply.

Re: Resignation
- Sue W (19th Jan 2009 - 16:31:08)

Dawn,

I accept your reply was in haste, and most people do at times - me included. No harm or offence taken and very decent to offer your apology – accepted.

Barbara,

As I have posted here before- unfortunately my character - being impatient, suffer foot in mouth all too often and calling a spade a spade would not lead me to be a very good councillor!!. Diplomacy is a must under council situations – something I am still trying hard to achieve. If you think there is discontent among the existing bunch - I would be like pouring on hot oil.

I know my capabilities and my failings all too well.

Nice to be asked Barbara.

Sue

Re: Resignation
- Dawn Hoskins (23rd Jan 2009 - 09:48:21)

Sue I beg to differ.

I think that calling a spade a spade is a very good character trait when representing people. It portrays to people that you are speaking their language, you are ‘one of them’ so to speak.

The ancient and formal tone in which many meetings are run makes them feel stuffy and exclusive. If councillors ‘spoke out loud’ about their thoughts – however brusquely it may be phrased – this can only be seen as worthy debate. I would much rather someone spoke out and run the risk of offending than just maintain the status quo so as not to tread on toes.

I think you should reconsider. You would bring a breath of fresh air to proceedings.
