The below is from an email of a good friend of mine in Frensham and I thought I had to share ...

I just wanted to warn all my friends and family about "courier fraud" which happened to me today .
Basically someone called me this morning saying he was from the Police Fraud Squad and that he believed someone had used my card fraudulently - spending £900 at Argos. He gave me his full name and a reference number. He then told me to hang up and ring the phone number on the back of my bank card to report it. So I hung up and called the number on the back of my card - but unbelievably I wasn't actually speaking with the bank! The fraudster had actually intercepted my call - by not hanging up the line, so I was therefore giving all my personal information to a criminal for 20 minutes !
I can't believe I fell for this. But the whole thing was so slick. I had to get off the phone as I had to race to a doctors appointment and the lady told me she would call me back in an hour. Luckily I missed that call so when I got home I googled the bank and called that number. That is when I found out I had been a victim of fraud. I have had to cancel all my cards etc but thank goodness nothing was stolen.
I have told the police and they have filled out a report and told me that if a bank ever calls - tell them you will call them back. Then call using a different phone (mobile) so they can't intercept the call.
