Headley Road malaise - Paul Robinson (8th Jun 2004 - 21:15:17)
For those with an interest in such things I would advise that informed sources tell me that the current 'hole diggery' going on near the junction of Headley Road and Tower Road is being carried out by a team from Transco made up of worthies from Maidstone who travel up to Liphook via Reading where they pick up materials and equipment before descending on this blighted spot to do their worst.
Having made the best of a bad job they have retired leaving a fenced off area and set of lights to await a further crew from Buckinghamshire who have to finish the job and 'make good' As Flanders and Swann put it 'It all makes work for the working man to do'
Of course with all this too-ing and fro-ing across the home counties the queues lengthen in the Headley Road leaving precious little room for the Mother's Crossing Protest which culminated in a colourful exchange of 'anglo saxon' between motorists and protestors this evening.
Oh to be in England now that Spring is here.

Gosh, good chance of a queue and look who's there!

They've gone. But they'll be back. I gather they hoped to push their lovely new bright yellow plastic pipe down the inside of the original (cast iron) gas main from a single hole in the middle of the Headley Road. But it wouldn't go. So now they've gone to prepare to do the job the other way - digging up the whole road! Oh no. Here we go again. Scope for lots more anglo saxon over the next few weeks.
