Greengrocers for Liphook?
- Helen (16th Dec 2008 - 20:05:35)

I have heard through the grapevine that a 'proper old fashioned greengrocers' may be started in Liphook..

Are there enough of us loyal Sainsburys clients that are willing to pass their 'days old' and 'long air miles imported' veg isles in favour of popping into one store dedicated to fresh fruit and veg?

Brown paper bags all the way!

I am very excited about the prospect...anyone else?

God Yes!!!
I am very keen for any shopping alternative to Sainsburys'.
I hope it is not just a rumour! As far as I am concerned get Liphook back to how it was before the dreaded Sainsburys extension!(It has got so much worse since!)
Bring some life back to Station Road.
Yes Yes Yes to the Greengrocers!!!!!!

This would be great if true as I think it will assist in breathing new life back into that are of Liphook.

Look forward to it.

I very much doubt that a greengrocers will make Liphook so much better than it was before Sainsbury's extension- as if they can be blamed for all the problems in Liphook like you state in your post!!

However, i do agree that an alternative place to do shopping in Liphook would be welcome, but there is still the convenience aspect of buying everything in one place.

The greengrocers in Bordon, however, is very successful, so who knows, maybe just another vicious rumour?!!

Here we go again.

Another possible outlet destined for Liphook - I will reserve judgement until the name goes above the door and products are on the shelf!

Yes a greengrocer, butcher, upmarket deli, Italian restaurant all sound great, but so far not a single sign of them.

The post actually did not specify where this shop is to be, and from the reply posts people assume it to be Station Road, probably because there are 3 empty shops.

The Italian - apparently was scuppered due to the cost of the rent - what a surprise, (I thought it had gone to auction) and the economic climate not right for expansion - but I have been told they do intend to open a take-away kinda Italian - but I wont hold my breath, as 2 previous good ventures have been sunk by the failings of the rental/property owners who have been very un-cooperative in dealing with the necessary requirements, and like the Butchers gave up waiting.

When will these landlords/existing tenants get their act together and help those who wish to open a new front door to the public of Liphook.

I seem to have annoyed Phil with my previous post, I am sorry! However not everyone finds Sainsburys convinient and my point was there is no choice of places to shop in Liphook anymore. As for the grocers in Bordon, yes they are successful and popular but not everyone can get there to shop.
If it does open great!

Dont worry too much about Phil, he only ever post on here when someone says anything remotely against Sainsbury's.

LOL

PS Perhaps he could offer the Company pointers in sorting out the excess water problems!!
