Have you heard of Privilege Card - Consumer Care Direct - Jay W (23rd Jan 2014 - 14:34:12)
Received a cold call today (despite registration with telephone preference) from a company called Consumer Care Direct trying to sell me a privilege card that would save me hundreds of pounds on my shopping and utilities. Apparently it works like a discount card.
Being a real sceptic, just wondered if anyone actually had one of these cards and whether it really was any good? There is a fee of £49 p.a. but if you entice two other people to sign up you apparently get the card for free next year.
I won't give out any bank/credit card details over the phone unless I have made the call out, so refused to agreed to anything until I had checked out the company. They happily gave me their 0800 number and they were ringing from a line in Manchester.

Sounds a bit fishy to me ... the minute they asked for £49 I'd be hanging up!

Great thanks Editor for the link - I'd been looking for one on MSE but hadn't been able to find it.
Interesting comments about the lack of refund after the 7 day cooling off period due to administration costs - I was told they would start work on my case immediately so that I would be benefitting from the savings by the time my welcome pack reached me. No mention that I wouldn't then be able to have a refund of the £49.
That answers that one then - if they ring me again I will be ready with specific questions - just to put them on the spot!
