Road closure
- barbara (20th Nov 2008 - 15:47:49)

There is a notice in the paper which I feel people should be aware of. The highways Agency have scheduled part of the Headley Road for road closure, starting on the 1st of December, and could last 10 working days.

This is for re-surfacing and will involve Headley Road from the mini roundabout in Liphook near the Indian Restaurant up to the A3 Bridge.

There is an alternative route suggested which is through Bramshott or onto the Longmoor Road. Hopefully it will not last too long!

What joy! I suppose it would have been to complicated for them to have done it during school holidays!!!

At long last !

Driving along the Headley Road sometimes feels a bit like a fairground ride as you bounce up and down along it.

Where I live on the Headley Road as a result of the bumps trailers go airborne and skip along the road which then causes vibrations in the house.

My only fear about this is if the surface is a a good one cars will drive even faster than they already do down the road. My theory has always been that the awful condition of the road has been acting to curb speeding to a degree. We shall see.

How do people who live on that particular stretch of the Headley Road (like me) get in and out of the road if it's closed ?

Do we get given a sticker to put on the windscreen? Does anyone know.....

Well I don't believe those people living on the Headley Road will be barricaded in their homes ;) , I should imagine it will be access only. The works are going to be done in stages and there will be a letter drop to those living in the affected area including Business' and Schools.
I think the main problem will be for those of us trying to get to the village from the Conford/Passfield end ,I think the alternative route would be via Bordon up the A3 and into the village via the Longmoor Road, which would mean a 3 minute car journey turning into a 20 minute one.
There is a phone number available if you wish to find out more:
0845 6035633.
It is frustrating but the road is in bad need of resurfacing . They will be restricting the working hours between 09:00 and 16:00 , so access through the village shouldn't be a problem before 9am.

I suppose there's no hope they'll be re-surfacing the pavements on that stretch of road as well?

They're in an even worst state than the road and the puddles, after heavy rain, are a huge nuisance !!

BTW Nikki thank you for the reassurance that we won't be barricaded in our houses.....phew what a relief ;)

Just to say I spoke to a Mike Pillans of the Highways office today who tells me the work will NOT start on the 1st December but has been re-scheduled for Mid March next year.

I thought it strange no notices had gone up.
