PETITION TO RENOVATE LIPHOOK PLAY AREA
- Helen M (18th Nov 2008 - 19:29:04)

I'm starting a petition to see if we can get the council to renovate the local play area in the rec ground (next to the car park). My friends and I go there quite frequently and are constantly disappointed by the standard of equipment and the state in which the area is left by locals. Its usually got some kind of offending article lying around, be it multiple broken bottles, kebabs, litter, coke bottles etc etc. Older kids hang around in it after school so the younger kids cant go on the swings. the path way into the park has a 3 inch puddle which the kids love to play in and the parents hate!!

If you would like to sign the petition look out for it at the local playgroups and doctors surgeries! Please sign!!!

thanks

helen

Happy to sign as long as they keep the bench or put a new one in its place with the plaque in the memory of my father :-)

But agree updated items and a tidy would be good, would be great to see another witches hat it would be just like the old days.

Hi,

Don't wish to gossip, but when I collected my son from nursery a couple of days ago, I did see an official looking man with a tape measure in the play area. Do you think wheels might already be in motion, have you asked anyone from the council etc? You may not need the petition, but would be happy to sign anyway!

hear hear! ....it has changed very little since i had to spend hours bent double playing 'shops' under the climbing frame/slide (and my son is now 14!!). I am sure all the local playgroups would offer a petition for their parents to sign.

Have you approached the Parish Council who own and maintain it ?
I would suggest this might prove useful :)

I am pleased to read you are starting a petition to improve facilities at the Rec.
I raised this item at the Annual meeting of The Parish Council held in March this year, when I suggested a slide (for the use of older children)could be installed to replace the one taken down some years ago.

My suggestion was discussed at the September Meeting of the Recreation Committtee. The Chairman Cllr Newman proposed that my idea be turned down as there was no overwhelming need. This proposal was agreed on by the othes councillers at the meeting
(Cllr Amery & Cllr James).

Therefore I hope your petition is sucsesful in changing
the minds of the people who make decisions on our behalf.

hi,

thanks for your replies. After karen's comment i rang the parish council who said they would welcome people's feedback and whilst she couldn't comment on if there was work in the offing she thought it would be a good time to get some of the locals views over!

so.... look out for the petition at both doctors surgeries and Lloyds pharmacy. Also, going to drop it off at the local nurseries so please sign!!!
