No Post Box at new Post Office! - Freddie Dawkins (20th Feb 2003 - 15:17:33) Liphook's probably set a new record - for having a Post Office with no Post Box! The move from Alldays to the Co-op appeared to have gone smoothly this morning. I walked up the the Co-op and there was a definite buzz around the store, as more people than usual were walking up and down Headley Road. The queue was short for the Post Office and Carole and the other ladies we are used to seeing serving us with stamps etc were all in place (albeit limited space compared to Alldays). I carried out my purchase of stamps easily enough. But when I asked for the Post Box, there was a wry reaction from behind the counter. I think someone forgot to include it in the shopfitting plan! But not to worry - staff are accepting mail across the counter and will make sure it all gets collected later. Can we expect a traditional red Post Box outside the Co-op soon? Wait and see. Re: No Post Box at new Post Office! - Freddie Dawkins (27th Feb 2003 - 11:25:36) And replying to myself: Latest news is that the counter staff are trying to tell customers to take their post to the box in Tower Road. I queried instruction this morning and, rather begrudgingly, my post was accepted over the counter - as it was on first day of opening. Further enquiry has revealed that the Tower Road post box might be moved to outside the Co-op - but no news on when!
