Clubs for the over 60's
- Gillian Stoneman (10th Nov 2008 - 11:58:15)
The club that my father has been going to in Whitehill is about to close so I was wondering if anyone could recomend a club. Hes a very social person so sitting at home on his own is not a good idea.

Hi
I know that Age Concern run lunches at the Millennium Centre every Wednesday - the lunch is cooked there, served to everyone at their table, and costs £2 (ish). It's nice food, and quite a lot of people go.
I think that there is also an Over 60s club on Wednesday afternoon at the Liphook Village Hall. I don't know anything more about it - I just used to drop a lady off there after the Age Concern lunch!
I suggest that you contact the Millennium Hall, and/or the Liphook Village Hall for details. There are contact details on notices at each venue.
Hope you manage to find something suitable!

There is also quite an extensive list of clubs published at the back of the Liphook Magazine. They are mainly hobby clubs but you may find something there.

How old is your father? There is a difference in what one would like to do at 60, which is the new 50, and what one can manage to do at aged 80-90

My neighbour goes to the over 60's club at the village hall.
I can ask her about it if you want? Let me know.

Hi , It may be a little too far but the Hasleway Centre in Haslemere seems to have a lot on for seniors.

U3A has many groups of interest to the over 50's - many members are in their seventies and eighties. There is a monthly talk at the MH plus loads of other things to keep the mind active and provide time for passing a pleasant afternoon.
