Stolen Bikes
- Barry Gooden (10th Nov 2008 - 11:16:21)

My bike was stolen from my garage on Saturday evening.(I live off the Avenue).

Did anyone else suffer a similar misfortune? The police told me that a number of bikes have been stolen from garages in this area.

Oh, that's terrible. Did they do any damage to the garage door?

Keep an eye on e-bay for your bike. If you find it for sale you can contact the police.

Just the sort of thing that we should all be looking out for. With the aid of this website providing fairly instant communication and a scheme like Street Watch as discussed on another posting, we should all be on the lookout for suspicious people (on bikes or foot), and communicate our concerns to each other and PCSO Pete Tedder. If Street Watch was up and running things like this could possibly be prevented.

Barry

Sorry to hear about your theft.

When my childrens bikes were pinched a few years ago, the police were only interested if we had the chassis number - or had them postcoded.

Make sure you keep the identification numbers safely, as finding a bike 'like yours', could be someone elses!

Unfortunately I didn't have the chassis no so little chance of it being recovered.

So if anyone spots an abandoned silver Saracen adult mountain bike anywhere let us know.

Sorry to hear that your bike got stolen. We had one of our large potted plants outside the Gurkha Chautari in Station Road stolen a few weeks ago.We couldn't do anything about it nor did we know what to do!I know the Police have more important business to attend to so I think it will be brilliant if we can set up a Community Watch.
